Addressing loneliness in HR roles.... Three weeks after our initial HR Forum, we've gathered even more valuable insights! To further support our community, we're launching a members-only LinkedIn group (end of August) to foster continuous discussion and peer support. More information on this initiative will be shared soon. One of the most pressing issues highlighted during the forum was the isolation and loneliness experienced by many HR professionals. Despite being the backbone of organisational culture and employee well-being, HR roles can often be isolating. This is due to the unique challenges HR professionals face, such as handling confidential information, managing conflict, and often not having a peer within the organisation to confide in or seek advice from. The need for peer support and a platform for ongoing dialogue was strongly echoed within the group. Addressing loneliness in HR roles requires a multifaceted approach. Our forums and the upcoming LinkedIn group are just the beginning. We are also looking into developing mentorship programs, regular virtual meetups, and resource-sharing platforms to provide continuous support. These initiatives aim to build a strong network where HR professionals can connect, share experiences, and support each other in their roles. Having a HR network is like having access to rocket fuel 🚀 I write a lot about the importance of having a trusted HR network. Throughout the years I've found mine to be a place to ✅ Validate my thinking (for all those nuanced HR situations) ✅ Get support (We all have different expertise) ✅ Share ideas (Lets not make the same mistakes, lets find new ones) ✅ Have a safe space to vent (cause you know...HR 😜) ✅ Brainstorm (Get a few HR peeps in the same space and the innovations flows) It's been such a boost for me personally and my career over the years... Building a network is much easier now as we can do this online.
