🛑 This is a perfect example of the difficulties we face in fundraising. Recently, a comment on our fundraiser tweet said, "Y’all haven’t pickpocketed and scammed enough money from tourists in Europe to fund your little project?" This kind of stereotype is not only hurtful but also detrimental to the efforts of organizations like the World Roma Federation. Not all Roma are pickpockets and thieves, just as not all Mexicans are in cartels or all Italians are in the mafia. Such harmful stereotypes create significant obstacles in our mission to support and uplift Roma communities through legitimate and impactful projects. At the World Roma Federation, we are dedicated to creating sustainable housing, educational opportunities, and better living conditions for marginalized Roma communities. We believe in transparency, accountability, and the power of constructive dialogue. It's time to end these stereotypes and work together to create positive change. Thank you to everyone who supports our mission. Let's continue to fight for equality and justice. #EndStereotypes #SupportRoma #FundraisingChallenges #Equality #SocialJustice

Greetings fellow LinkedIn! About a year ago, I took a leap of faith and founded Bridge H2OPE, a 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit dedicated to providing clean and safe drinking water to rural Ethiopian communities. It's astonishing to think that over two billion people lack access to this basic human need that we often take for granted and over 40% of my people in Ethiopia also lack this basic need. As the executive director, I am proud of the progress we have made, with over 1,200 individuals now having access to clean water. I am optimistic about the future and believe that with the right strategies, we can end this water crisis. If you are looking for ways to make a difference, here are three simple ways to support our cause: follow us (on social @bridge_h2ope) and subscribe to our email updates (https://lnkd.in/ektCkZNj 📧) contribute to our launching fundraising campaign (https://lnkd.in/ekzbpjiv), or join us at our official launching party if you are in the DC-Metro area on July 14th, 2-5pm ET (RSVP ticket at https://lnkd.in/ev7wQSAM. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that everyone on this planet has access to this essential need. Is this the best customer experience in Australia? As someone who spends their days looking at how a company connects with customers through the brand, marketing, comms and experiences, it takes a pretty amazing experience to blow me away. One organisation that I think is the absolute 'best of the best' is www.lifeblood.com.au. The team at the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood team do three things amazingly well: their brand is single minded in its purpose and value proposition; the experience of registering and donating blood is so easy; their comms are second to none - right down to letting you know where your blood donation is going. Tick. Tick. Tick. Above all this, the work they do is so important. As someone who has had family members rely on donations (I need to make about 30 to square the ledger... 27 to go), anyone who can should really consider giving blood. Do it for the warm and fuzzies, do it to help someone else... and brand nerds should do it because you will see what I mean about amazing customer experience from end-to-end. Well done Australian Red Cross Lifeblood. I love your work on a whole bunch of levels. See you in a few weeks for the next donation. 👍

The Kenyan government’s recent decision to grant the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation diplomatic immunity has sparked a lively debate about power dynamics, accountability, and the future of governance. Critics are raising concerns over the timing of this move and its broader implications for the philanthropic sector. While the Gates Foundation has emphasized that these privileges are intended to facilitate smoother operations, the controversy underscores a critical issue: how do we balance enabling philanthropy with ensuring proper oversight and transparency? As the conversation unfolds, it’s important to consider the potential long-term effects on both local and global governance structures. 🌍 Celebrating National Volunteer Week: Spotlight on Alfajiri and Our Volunteers in Nairobi, Kenya 🌍 In the heart of Nairobi, a heartwarming mission unfolds through Alfajiri, a dedicated non-profit striving to change the lives of homeless children. These children, numbering around 60,000, face unimaginable hardships—from surviving the streets due to the loss of parents or abuse to being viewed negatively by the community. Trenton Dodds, Matthew Anderson, Hayden Hedrington, and Jacob Lipke—our selfless Benedictine Volunteers, have spent the last 8 months engaging with these children at Alfajiri and are committed to raising awareness and funds to support Alfajiri’s critical work. 🎨 Through art-based interventions, Alfajiri helps these children escape the streets and embrace the promise of education. They provide essential needs like food, clothing, and educational support, and have successfully helped hundreds of children find hope away from street life and destitution. 🤝 How You Can Help: $1 feeds a child for a day. $10 provides new clothes and shoes. $40 covers lodging for a month. $60 supports a college student’s monthly food and lodging needs. $150 covers a semester's primary school fees including books and meals. Every dollar makes a significant difference in Kenya, stretching far to create opportunities and nurture dreams. If you believe in transforming lives and giving hope, please consider making a donation to support Alfajiri’s continued mission. Share their story and help amplify their impact. ➡️ https://gofund.me/830d5cb5 ⬅️ Let's unite in support during #NationalVolunteerWeek and bring positive changes to the lives of children who need it most. What comes to mind when you think of The Hague? For many it is synonymous with international justice. It's where war criminals are sent to answer for their crimes. But what you might not know is that it is also the centre of a growing ecosystem of charities, NGOs and humanitarian groups who are striving for a better world. Last month I went to The Hague to speak to a number of international organisations about the work they do in the city. But this first article is about the city itself, and how it became renowned for peace, as well as justice. With thanks to Rob Schuurmans and Graziella Guarguaglini. #TheHague #InternationalCityofPeaceandJustice

We're releasing a short film about Peace Canal's work today! We were super privileged to get to camp in a cattle camp in Jonglei for three days to shoot this. Communities in South Sudan's pastoralist regions are still waiting for sustainable, material peace. The challenges these communities face are profound. Cattle raiding, abductions, and inter-community violence continue to displace and divide families, compounding the trauma from decades-long civil conflict. Innocent children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable, while agricultural activities remain disrupted, preventing communities from fully utilizing their arable land. Peace Canal are dedicated to refocusing peacebuilding efforts on those most affected. The South Sudanese-led NGO, composed of local advisors from conflicting communities, operates on the frontlines, fostering dialogue and collaboration among groups in Lakes, Jonglei, and the Greater Pibor Administrative Area. Since Peace Canal's inception in 2021, they've successfully facilitated peaceful cattle migration, de-escalated violent mobilization, and supported enduring peace initiatives like the Pieri Peace Process. However, while many international organisations provide crucial short-term humanitarian aid, few can maintain a long-term presence in the most conflict-affected areas. To ensure their mission of sustainable peace can continue, we are raising funds to establish a permanent home for Peace Canal in Juba. Join us in supporting locally-driven, sustainable solutions. 🔗 Watch the film: https://bit.ly/WeArePC 🔗 Support their crowdfunding campaign: https://bit.ly/peacecanal #Peacebuilding #SouthSudan #ConflictResolution #CommunityDevelopment #SocialImpact #SustainableDevelopment #HumanRights #Philanthropy #NGOs #MakeADifference
