Seven years of inquiry following the tragic Grenfell fire, which claimed 72 lives, raises serious concerns about the pace of justice and accountability. How can it take seven years to reach a final decision on such a devastating event? While some partial reports have been released and certain legislative changes have been made, the lengthy duration of this process is unacceptable. The families affected by this tragedy deserve timely answers and justice. The prolonged inquiry not only prolongs their suffering but also highlights systemic failures in addressing safety and regulatory issues. Seven years is far too long to wait for clarity and meaningful reforms in the wake of such a significant loss of life. #Grenfell #JusticeForGrenfell #BuildingSafety #Accountability #PublicInquiry #SafetyFirst #LegislativeChange #CommunitySupport #NeverForget #SystemicChange https://lnkd.in/enziHCji

Modern slavery is happening right here in every corner of the UK. Anyone can become a victim of modern slavery and that includes British citizens. Imagine if you had to flee your home because of war or discrimination or accepting a job offer to keep your starving family alive, pay for your mother’s medical treatment or keep the drug dealers from hurting you, only to find yourself working for no pay and threatened with violence to you or your family if you run away. People like that are in every town, village, and city in the UK, often hidden in plain sight. Which is why it is so important to spot the signs of modern slavery. Recent reports, conducted by UC Berkeley School of Public Health Professor Jason Corburn with the Center for Global Healthy Cities shows that the #AdvancePeace model has prevented 41 shootings in the city of #Lansing, saving the city $20 million. “Given the amount of gun violence that’s increasing across the country, I think the characterization is truthful. This is a health care issue, and it’s one that has a lot of different tentacles to it,” said Strategy Manager Charles Richardson of Advance Peace Lansing. We’re excited to see the relationship between the City of Lansing, Advance Peace, and the local community continue to grow, fostering safety, vitality, and peace!
