How many of you knew from an early age that you would be working in the industry/position you currently hold? I had no idea the industries I’ve worked in even existed as a young person. I’m looking forward to speaking with the students at Lone Star College-CyFair Lone Star College during the OGV Group Recruitment Fair 2024 about my career journey. As I’ve spoken with many groups at various grade levels, I’ve discovered that the vocations available in the offshore energy industry can be a bit esoteric for many young people. While many of us struggle to keep up with staffing needs, especially when trying to recruit qualified personnel, it becomes extremely important that we, as an industry, participate in events such as this to continue our outreach and educate students on the various possibilities after graduation. While many companies look for seniors with 5+ years of experience, I’ve always believed in the power of investing in young talent and supporting them as they grow. So Meeting the passionate candidates at the recent Job Fair in Tripoli organized by IOM - UN Migration was truly inspiring! 🌱 Talking with students and fresh graduates brought me back to my first interview, when nerves had me forgetting my own name, let alone the answers to any questions! Luckily, I had an interviewer who believed in my potential, which made all the difference in my career trajectory and led me to where I am today. Through my work at Speetar, we’re proud to coordinate Speetar associates program that equips students and fresh graduates with valuable skills and real-world experience. It’s rewarding to help these future leaders find their path and see them grow. 💼✨ So, here’s a call to CEOs and HR leaders: Invest in young talent, create opportunities by participating in these hiring activities, and provide the young talents with the mentorship they seek.
