Is your company actively working towards gender equity? Now, be real with me, is it really?
Some businesses have a lot of policies around it, but it's often just words with few actions to back it up.
79% of Australian employers (with 100+ staff) report that they have policies and strategies around gender equality in their workplace, but only:
- 22% have female CEO's
- 37% have key management personnel that are women
- 21.7% have a gender pay gap

I am not saying we should automatically put women into leadership roles to even up the numbers, as that could be setting them up to fail if they're not ready or qualified.
I believe we need to start giving more women the skills and confidence EARLY in their careers, to become successful future leaders.
In a recent Woman Rising survey of 1200 Australian women, 74% said they would leave their organisation if their career development was not invested in by their current employer.
Take action now, rather than just talking about it. And invest in your young talent, who show potential. Ways you can do that include:
- Help them find a strong mentor (internally or externally) who can support their journey
- Take the time to understand their goals and help create a plan to achieve them
- Invest in leadership coaching to give them a dedicated resource.
