Women leaders bring value to business that is seldom formally rewarded. An example – women are more likely to put energy into supporting employees’ well-being and fostering diversity. Putting time and effort into unrecognized, but critical work can lead to higher levels of stress. And even though more women are attaining business degrees and finding their places in the C-suite, stereotypes and roadblocks still exist. Various programs, discussed in the referenced article, are helping prepare and empower the next generation of women business leaders. Vistage knows the value of women business leaders, the unique assets they bring to the business world, and the unique perspectives they bring to our groups. I’m actively seeking more women to participate in the three groups I facilitate, each focused on a different level of leadership. Contact me to discuss which group may be a fit for you and how you can benefit. 720-353-3515, bcarrothers@vistagechair.com, or use my Calendly link to set up a time that works for you: http://bit.ly/4d85H8g. #FemaleLeadership #Leadership #Vistage https://lnkd.in/gAvkf6fW

How do we start to engage our young leaders to become interested in corporate leadership? Over the last few years, the struggles of corporations to create more diverse boards has come to light. In order to have more Black and Brown women on the boards of corporate companies, it starts with their interest level. How do we gain the interest of young girls of color early in life so that they aspire to sit on those seats? This article from @blackenterprise highlights the importance of starting to target middle-school aged Black and Brown girls when they are just starting to develop their confidence and are starting to see themselves as leaders. If you are growing and evolving your career and seeking proven leadership experience and skills, I think it’s wise to find a board of directors and a seat at their table — it can be either non profit or for profit board of directors (the latter could be your paid side hustle). If you aspire to this, then check out and apply to UW Foster School of Business’ Women on Boards program! Only two days to get started on your aspirations. Highly recommend the program! Promoting women isn't enough. When you want to set someone up for success, you need to continue mentoring and supporting them after the promotion. Cindy challenges leaders: "Leaders need to not just promote someone and then disappear. You're promoting them into a world that is not familiar to them. You need to help them navigate what that pathway looks like in this new role." Read the whole interview with Cindy Cruzado and Amy Graham here: https://loom.ly/jo53u3c

Is your company actively working towards gender equity? Now, be real with me, is it really? Some businesses have a lot of policies around it, but it's often just words with few actions to back it up. 79% of Australian employers (with 100+ staff) report that they have policies and strategies around gender equality in their workplace, but only: - 22% have female CEO's - 37% have key management personnel that are women - 21.7% have a gender pay gap *WGEA data I am not saying we should automatically put women into leadership roles to even up the numbers, as that could be setting them up to fail if they're not ready or qualified. I believe we need to start giving more women the skills and confidence EARLY in their careers, to become successful future leaders. In a recent Woman Rising survey of 1200 Australian women, 74% said they would leave their organisation if their career development was not invested in by their current employer. Take action now, rather than just talking about it. And invest in your young talent, who show potential. Ways you can do that include: - Help them find a strong mentor (internally or externally) who can support their journey - Take the time to understand their goals and help create a plan to achieve them - Invest in leadership coaching to give them a dedicated resource. If you're looking for a great program, read more about Step Up - a unique curated training program, based on 23+ years of research, experience and knowledge, specifically for young women in business, giving them the skills and confidence to become future female leaders. Step Up delivers 1-1 coaching, group workshops, and keynote/event presentations, all offered online and in person, globally. And most importantly - it actually works and produces tangible measurable results. https://lnkd.in/gQdvjKFq #futurefemaleleaders #womeninbusiness #femaleleaders #leadershipcoaching
