LinkedIn often buzzes with posts about people's passion for their jobs. Honestly, I've never been one to claim I'm passionate about my professional roles in sales, marketing, or innovation alone. My true passions lie elsewhere—in food, ice hockey, and especially cars. Yet, when one of these personal passions aligns with my professional life, everything changes. I'm excited to announce that I've joined Digital Dealer - Automotive Internet Solutions, a trailblazer in the Australian automotive industry, where my enthusiasm for cars and my career finally intersect. For nearly three decades, hidden within a modest office in Brisbane, Digital Dealer has been revolutionising the #automotive sector. Whether it's introducing vehicle configurators that have become a staple on websites or deploying sophisticated AI that allows dealerships to seamlessly list cars across platforms like Meta, Google, and other key car listing sites, their impact is profound. Most importantly, they excel in getting cars from lots to drivers. I have used Digital Dealer's innovations unknowingly for years, as I browsed, favourited, and purchased cars. You probably have as well. Meeting the CEO and founders, I was deeply impressed—not just by the advanced technology that rivals major global platforms but also by a company culture that combines openness with rigour, all dedicated to a loyal customer base. I remember a time early in LogRocket when we launched a product that was “not quite there.” We hadn’t fully honed who the customer would be that was going to love the product. I figured that it would be fine... we would learn what users liked, and keep iterating until we found product market fit. I was WRONG. The costs of this were high since it was distracting across the board… ➖ Marketing spent time launching the product and building collateral ➖ Sales tried pitching the product to prospects ➖ Customer success tried to engage existing users to use it ➖ Engineering added technical debt since we had to pivot the solution over time My takeaway? We need to be deliberate about what products we launch and WHY. Spend more time validating the product before you build and launch.

Today I am sharing a personal story If I had to visualise the abstract concept of "passion"—for a sport, career, hobby or ideal — I’d imagine a fire. 🔥 Just like a fire, the flames are born small and mild, flickering in the background, often unnoticed at first. It's usually curiosity, sparks of interest, but with each new contact that flame starts to burn brighter. Every experience or activity will powerfully fuel that fire. For me, if I had to tell a storyline, the love for cars is... My little hand moving the bright flame-painted cars to their toy garage. The colorful carpet with the race-track drawn on it. The excitement every time my family had a new car. Entering my first ever automotive museo, curiously peeking around. The pure excitement when I pushed the accelerator for the first time. The thrill of sitting in a roaring German sports car. The first university research on this product. My legs shaking, while standing in front of the huge building on the first day working at a worldwide automotive company. The adrenaline of the first time walking on a F1 race-track! What's next? It really seems that these experiences rise exponentially. I don't know if I will always be so lucky to stay in the automotive sector. I like having the opportunity to work with products I truly admire and adore. But if I ever won't, I am sure that there will be countless other ways of letting this fire burn forever. ❓ Is there anything in your job that is related to one of your passions? This morning started off like any other: Wake up, get my daughter ready for school, rush out the door, drop her off, and make it to my 8:30 a.m. appointment to get winter tires installed. Now I’m sitting here at the dealership waiting for my car, and my marketing brain is running at full speed—thinking about campaigns, advocacy, and ways to spark excitement for this place. In under five minutes of scrolling social media, I found *four different ways* this #Honda dealership could better engage potential customers and increase awareness. Don’t get me wrong—Honda does well for itself. But there’s *always* room for growth, and it’s taking all my energy not to give every salesperson here a quick crash course on the power of online engagement and how they can take their marketing game to the next level.
