📢 Exciting Collaboration Announcement! 🌟 On November 27th, 2024, GIZ and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University (VNU), Hanoi, celebrated a partnership with the signing ceremony for the DigitalSkills2Succeed (DS2S) project. This collaboration will empower faculty lecturers and their students with essential ethical digital skills for the future job market. This partnership will focus on three key areas: 1️. Strengthening Peer Learning and Technical Exchange: Promoting cooperation within a network of German, India, Bangladesh and Vietnam universities, industry partners, and experts to foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation. 2️. Faculty Development Program: The core of this collaboration is focused on building faculty capacity in critical areas, including AI for teaching and learning. These training programs will ensure that lecturers are equipped with the necessary skills to deliver high-quality and ethical education in general and micro-credentials in particular. 3️. Micro-Credential Implementation: In partnership with GIZ and other stakeholders in the network, USSH will implement micro-credentials, providing students with practical and industry-relevant digital knowledge and skills. This collaboration is not just about improving digital competencies—it is about creating a strong, ethical foundation for the academic community, preparing lecturers and students to lead in a world of rapid technological change. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of USSH, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration, emphasizing its significance in the context of the growing digitalization of higher education. He reaffirmed that USSH has been at the forefront of educational digitalization and is committed to contributing actively to the success of the DS2S project. Last Friday, I had the honour to address a conference on #DigitalLiteracy and Multicultural Education organised by the Institute for Multicultural Integration, Dongguk University, Seoul, Korea (a long-time affiliate of mine). I emphasised the importance of integrating diverse experiences into a digital literacy framework. This integration can enhance education, promote cross-cultural understanding, and drive regional collaborations in Southeast Asia. However, I see firsthand how the #digitaldivide exacerbates educational inequalities, highlighting the urgent need for inclusive digital education initiatives. For me, #digitalinclusivity means more than just providing access to technology; it is about developing necessary digital literacy skills. We need comprehensive #policies that ensure access to technology, enhance digital skills and focus on educational outcomes. Jeffrey Cheah Institute on Southeast Asia

The recent collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Training and the Australian Education Department marks a significant stride in bolstering the internationalisation efforts of Vietnamese universities. From March 25 to April 11, managers and lecturers from 44 universities engaged in comprehensive training courses designed to enhance their capacity in internationalisation. Covering a broad spectrum of topics including student exchange, research cooperation, quality assurance, and internationalisation strategies, these courses provided participants with valuable insights and skills. This initiative is poised to cultivate greater collaboration and engagement on the global stage, thereby enriching the educational landscape for students and elevating the international reputation of Vietnamese higher education institutions. #educationallandscape #internationalisation #internationalstudent

🌍 Global Consistency vs. Local Uniqueness: Groupe ISM-Dakar’s Role in Shaping Education in Francophone Africa I was privileged to speak at the Eduniversal World Convention on the topic: “Between Global Consistency and Local Uniqueness: The Challenges of Business Schools and Universities.” Representing Groupe ISM , I emphasized Dakar’s unique position as both a historic hub for higher education in Francophone Africa and a forward-looking destination for global academic collaboration. Dakar, with its legacy rooted in the days of Afrique Occidentale Française, has long been a center for intellectual and cultural excellence. Building on this foundation, institutions like ours are bridging global academic standards with the specific needs of our local context by: • Expanding international pathways to expose students to global perspectives, • Promoting programs that reflect the socio-economic realities of Francophone Africa, • And fostering partnerships that honor both global consistency and local identity. Thank you to Eduniversal and my fellow panelists : Prof. João Amaro de Matos, Prof. Ivan Valdovinos, Prof. Katarzyna Dziewanowska and the moderator Dr. George Jabbour for a rich discussion on how to balance these critical elements. Groupe ISM-Dakar is proof that global relevance and local uniqueness are not opposites but complementary strengths. I’d like to thank Marie-Joe SUEIRO Cécile Escape Perochain, Lyuba GANGULY for the organisation. In 2024, I discovered that my journey from 美國麻省理工大學斯隆商學院 and 波士頓顧問公司 strategy to education wasn't a career pivot - it was a perfect alignment of skills to create broader impact. Strategic thinking isn't just for corporations. This year proved how business expertise can transform educational access. Four moments that captured our mission: • Named one of Taiwan's Top 10 under 40 by CommonWealth English 天下雜誌英文網 Magazine What truly fuels my passion is the opportunity to inspire and empower the next generation. https://lnkd.in/gg3qtti6 • Expanded EducationUSA Taiwan’s #BrownBagSeries and reached six thousand students with global opportunities through 47 sessions with admission officers, faculty, and alumni. https://lnkd.in/gYhmyt9X • Launched Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Fulbright Taiwan)'s Public Affairs and Communications Group to enhance visibility while strengthening US-Taiwan educational bridges. https://lnkd.in/gqb3_PBS • Represented EducationUSA to present at International ACAC 2024 Annual Conference in Canada as well as at 2024 EducationUSA East Asia and the Pacific Regional Forum in Indonesia https://lnkd.in/gzaxqXbJ https://lnkd.in/gddmrazy Looking ahead: 2025 focuses on expanding our public affairs impact while making US education opportunities more accessible to students across Taiwan. Because education isn't just about individual growth - it's about building lasting bridges between nations. To every student dreaming of studying abroad: Your background isn't a barrier - it's the unique perspective you'll bring to global education. #EducationUSA #FulbrightTaiwan #GlobalEducation

I have the privilege to publish an article with Professor XUE Song where we discuss about educational cooperation between China and Southeast Asian states. Some fun facts from the article include that Tan Kah Kee and other Chinese diaspora pioneers were instrumental in establishing the first private schools in Southeast Asia around the early 1900s, significantly shaping the region’s educational landscape. Fast forward to the 1970s and 1980s, under the leadership of Deng Xiaoping, China sent over 50,000 officials to Singapore to learn from Lee Kuan Yew’s modernization strategies. Today, these educational ties have evolved, with Southeast Asian students now forming the largest international student body in China, with over 100,000 studying there during the 2021-2022 academic year. In recent years, educational cooperation between China and Southeast Asia has expanded significantly, with Chinese universities setting up campuses in the region and attracting a growing number of Southeast Asian students. This collaboration is part of China's broader strategy to increase student enrollment, diversify funding sources, and improve its regional image through cultural diplomacy. The rise in Southeast Asian students studying in China and the establishment of Chinese educational institutions in Southeast Asia highlight the deepening ties between the regions. https://lnkd.in/gxD7YQfp
