In Nigeria, the government and various organizations are taking actions to reduce plastic pollution. Here are some of their activities: 1. The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) is implementing the Lagos Recycle program, including setting up collection centers across the city equipped with facilities like portakabins, bailers, and cycle bikes. 2. In January 2020, FEC approved the National Policy on Plastic Waste Management. 3. The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) registered producers, recyclers, and collectors under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program. 4. Various initiatives like the 'Cash 4 Trash' by W.A.S.T.E Africa and projects by organizations like DOW and BASF are promoting recycling and creating jobs.

Continuous engagements with Waste pickers and Site Collectors for better prices and have more deliveries per day have enabled us to collect more plastic waste for recycling.This week alone we estimate an increase of waste collected by 3-5 tonnes. The impact we have so far seen on the environment and the people we have hired gives us the motivation to continue improving our recycling numbers. Freee Recycle Limited promotes sustainability, makes flip-flops from tyres FREEE Recycle, a recycling company in Nigeria, has launched its flip-flops made from recycled waste tyres in a bid to divert waste from landfills and reduce the nation’s environmental pollution.
