Join the international campaign to increase funding for research and innovation in all European countries (not just EU members). North America and Asia have massively increased their investment in research, leaving Europe behind. To remain competitive, we must invest in research. We must invest in our future. #EUPRIO - European Association of Communication Professionals in Higher Education - European Association of Communication Professionals in Higher Education and other European associations are involved in the international Research Matters Campaign to advocate for more funding. What does the future hold for #MSCA? Despite their achievements and popularity, the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions are notably absent in recent publications like Mario Draghi's report on EU competitiveness or the mission letters to the EU Commissioners-designate. The MSCA fund excellent research and innovation and equip researchers at all stages of their career with new knowledge and skills, through mobility across borders and exposure to different sectors and disciplines. They also fund the development of excellent doctoral and postdoctoral training programmes and collaborative research projects worldwide. Many EuroTech researchers have benefitted from the programme, not the least through the two #EuroTechPostdoc programmes that have allowed in total 150 postdoctoral fellows to establish their own research lines and receive comprehensive training within the EuroTech Universities. Together with many other R&I organisations, we express our collective concern over this omission, which overlooks the programme’s essential contributions to Europe’s research, innovation and competitiveness. Therefore, we call for the recognition the MSCA programme deserves, alongside an increased budget to unlock its full potential. A report that reviews 22 projects funded under the call H2020-IBA-SwafS-Support-2-2020 (Pilot II) of the Science with and for Society (SwafS) programme of Horizon 2020 #ResearchResutls #SuccessTips #Science
📢 Report on European University Alliances - Pilot II released! I am happy to share our recently published “Report on good practices from European University Alliances Projects (pilot II)” This report reviews 22 projects funded under the call H2020-IBA-SwafS-Support-2-2020 (Pilot II) of the Science with and for Society (SwafS) programme of Horizon 2020. It presents tangible progress and good practices achieved in the different areas of institutional change of the European University Alliances projects, with the objective to raise excellence in science and in value creation in the university sector, and to align Member States efforts to increase the sector’s global visibility and competitiveness. With this report, which builds on a previous Progress of University Alliance Projects report on the 17 Pilot I alliances SwafS projects funded under the Horizon 2020 IBASwafS- Support-1-2020 call, we are proud to provide policy feedback and further evidence on the implementation of the ERA Policy Agenda 2022-2024, in particular the ERA Action 13 - Empowering Higher Education Institutions. The European Research Executive Agency (REA) is entrusted by the European Commission with the management of significant parts of the EU Research and Innovation framework programmes. An important part of our work is to provide policy feedback to the Commission and EU citizens, based on our contacts with beneficiaries whose opinions on our actions we value and treasure. Therefore, we put great emphasis on lessons learned from projects, in terms of what works well and what needs improvement. This contributes to improving the design and development of the future research and innovation policy and actions under the framework programme, inspiring transformations at institutional, national, and European level. Thanks very much to our great experts Helena Acheson and Gareth O'Neill, to my REA colleagues Rinske van den Berg, Mihaela Costache and Irina Tiron, to my colleague Joerg Niehoff from DG RTD, and to all project coordinators for having contributed with their expertise and effort to this very nice piece of policy feedback. Enjoy the reading! 👉🏽 https://lnkd.in/e6quKT7Q #H2020 #Swafs #HorizonEU #Universities #EuropeanUniversityAlliances

📢 YERUN, in collaboration with key #research and #innovation organisations across #Europe, has joined forces to launch a critical joint statement advocating for increased recognition and support for the #MSCA Actions. Despite its remarkable achievements, the MSCA programme is at risk of being underfunded. In our joint statement, we emphasise the crucial role MSCA plays in advancing Europe’s innovation capacity and talent development. To unlock the full potential of MSCA, we urge the European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the European Union to recognise the MSCA's invaluable contributions by increasing its budget, while maintaining its purely bottom-up research character. 👀 Read the full statement 👇 https://lnkd.in/eFtdM5UM Organisation endorsing this statement: Aurora Universities - CESAER - Coimbra Group -EPSO - EuroTech Universities Alliance - EU-LIFE - European University Association - The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities - Initiative for Science in Europe - Marie Curie Alumni Association - Science Europe - League of European Research Universities (LERU)

As a former MSCA fellow, I can attest to the program’s exceptional role in connected work packages across #research 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐦-𝐮𝐩 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫, #dissemination, #management, and #leadership. To ensure its continued success, it is essential to cultivate an environment where researchers can thrive: 🔹 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞, from proposal preparation to post-project execution. 🔹 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫-𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 in both academia and industry, especially following the conclusion of MSCA. 🔹 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭, 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰-𝐮𝐩𝐬, to ensure efficiency and uphold the impactful delivery of MSCA initiatives. The 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 💡 can only be accelerated through the collaboration of the funding organization (EC), host institutions, and MSCA fellows.
