🎙 Podcast with Prof. Markus Lienkamp - From Racing to Accelerating towards Autonomous Mobility I had the privilege of interviewing Markus Lienkamp from Technical University of Munich about the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League, 27th of April 2024, and its contributions and learnings for the future of autonomous mobility. His captivating account highlighted the challenges, teamwork, and success of this well-executed event by ASPIRE, fostering fair and exciting competition. Beyond the thrill of the race, Markus shared invaluable insights for the automotive industry's autonomous mobility journey: 👉 Embracing open-source code collaboration on the technical front 👉 Enhanced cross-industry cooperation over the whole value chain 👉 Higher public and private financial commitment Markus compellingly advocated for open innovation and partnerships to accelerate progress in this transformative field. His plea resonates: to realize safe and efficient Level 4 and 5 autonomous mobility, we must unite our efforts. 👍 Join me in thanking Markus for these thought-provoking perspectives that will undoubtedly propel us towards our shared vision of autonomous mobility on public roads making mobility more sustainable (electric and service oriented) and inclusive (transport opportunities for elderly, handicapped and children). #AutonomousMobility #A2RL #ASPIRE #OpenSource #SDV #IAC #Sustainability #TUM #Inclusiveness #ElectricMobility #4NewMobilityTalk #AutonomousRacing #Innovation #A2RL #ASPIREUAE https://lnkd.in/dK2cezaA

Very exciting to hear the keynote of John Moavenzadeh, Executive Director of the Mobility Initiative at Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the eMobility Expo World Congress. Miquel Testar and myself had the chance to exchange with John about the big trends in mobility, which have to be ⛑️safe, 🚿clean 🔑and inclusive, as John told us. In the end, mobility is not the target, but one way to give access. Access to food, access to education, access to social contact with other people,... And there are other ways to get access: 🏙️ proximity, like living in big cities or neighborhoods, 📱and also online connections, which we learned to use massively during pandemics. We also discussed the concerning increase on vehicle accident fatalities in the US especially for VRUs (pedestrians and cyclists) and its causes and how Autonomous Vehicles can help to solve that. Even if we are seeing a setback in its deployments, it is still a US-lead technology with a high global competition. Thanks John! 90% of global trade is carried by sea - now imagine the future of that industry powered by autonomous vessels and green technology! This week we had the privilege to participate in the #SPINE project demonstration event, hosted by MSE International at the University of Plymouth. The event marked a pivotal moment in maritime innovation, showcasing the incredible progress in autonomous systems connectivity, communication and port energy modelling. A key highlight was the on water demonstration of autonomous vessel technology, a leap towards a more sustainable and decarbonised shipping industry. As part of the SPINE consortium, we played a key role in developing and testing these groundbreaking solutions. Special thanks to Lewis Seymour-Pugh for overseeing our involvement, and to all partners in our consortium, Frequentis and MarRI-UK for their collaboration over the past two years. The future of maritime is brighter, greener and more connected, thanks to initiatives like this. Here's to us all continuing to push boundaries in autonomous shipping, decarbonisation and sustainability. 🌍 #MaritimeInnovation #AutonomousShipping #GreenShipping #Sustainability #Collaboration #PortDecarbonisation
