Earlier this week we had the honor of welcoming Their Royal Highnesses The Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel to the Ericsson Studio.   We engaged in insightful discussions including technology, sustainability and social and corporate responsibility, talent development, and the digitalization of industries and society. The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel’s devotion and significant efforts in these areas are having a positive effect on the fundamentals of our industry. We discussed the ICT industry's role in driving digitalization and the vital role of cellular connectivity and 5G in facilitating the green transition in Sweden and globally. Ericsson's research shows that while the ICT industry is responsible for around 1.4 percent of the global carbon footprint, it has the potential to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by up to 15 percent by 2030. In addition, in research focusing on the European Union, we have found that with solutions relying on 5G, potential emissions reductions could reach 20 percent.   As a global Swedish company, The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel’s advocacy for Sweden and Swedish business on the world stage is uniquely important and we are grateful for the interest of The Crown Princess Couple to learn more about Ericsson, our industry and how our technology can drive positive change in society.

STRING takes center stage in a recent Tagesspiegel Background article outlining our journey as a leading green megaregion in Northern Europe. “STRING is the name of a metropolitan region between Oslo and Hamburg. It sees itself as a green role model in terms of sustainability. The focus is on infrastructure projects such as the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link and a green hub for future technologies. But just how sustainable the megaregion really is will only become clear in a few years' time.” The article dives into our key priorities, including infrastructure projects like the hydrogen refueling network GREATER4H, the Green Hub fostering green tech, and night trains for reduced emissions. We believe STRING can be a model for the world, demonstrating that green growth a sustainable future is achievable, not the least due to STRING’s transregional approach. 🌟 IT-TRANS 2024: An Event full of Innovation and Networking 🌟 I’m excited to share my experience from the #ITTRANS2024, in my hometown, Karlsruhe! This leading trade fair and conference for public transport offers a unique platform to explore the latest developments in digitalization, solutions, and innovations. During the event, there was the opportunity to attend sessions from over 180 inspiring speakers who covered topics like #ArtificialIntelligence, #AutonomousDriving, #Ticketing, #Cybersecurity, #Platforms and #DataGovernance. The variety of sessions and perspectives was impressive, providing valuable insights into the future of urban transportation. Two (personal) take-aways to mention: 🚏 At such an international trade fair, the significant differences in the characteristics and current situations of national transport systems can be clearly seen (e.g., keyword: 'ÖV Flickenteppich Deutschland' which I also examined in my master's thesis a few years ago — and not much has changed since then). 💳 A particular highlight was the great presence of the Openloop Ticketing topic, showcasing exciting new developments. While machines that handle cash and coins are still prevalent, advancements in alternative solutions are notable, even though they haven't fully taken off yet. It was inspiring to see how IT-TRANS brings together leading voices from the industry, including public transport operators, authorities, industry representatives, and policymakers. I had a fantastic time with my colleagues from Eraneos Switzerland (Tobias Frommenwiler, Franka Lorenz, Olivier Zingg, Hermann-Johannes Kerl, Marcello Massaro, Marco Scheidegger) and connected with many inspiring people (FAIRTIQ; IVU Traffic Technologies; Netcetera Consulting Inc.; InnovationsCampus Mobilität der Zukunft;...). Thank you to the UITP for organizing this inspiring event (and INIT Group for the network night). I’m already looking forward to next year! This year’s debate is going to be great. We’ve added the perspectives of some sharp college students who’ve done their homework (a full semester of research, to be exact) and are ready to help me challenge the panelists. Can our planet support the mobility needs of 8 billion people globally? We will soon have 8 billion people who need to move. We can either be proactive and strategically disrupt ourselves, or we can wait until we are in full crisis mode. Many might argue that the crisis is already here. 🇬🇧 Today, focus is placed on Tübingen, a city that is a pioneer in many respects, especially in terms of sustainability. Tübingen is striving for complete climate neutrality and demonstrates its commitment through various innovative projects. An alugha video available on the city's website https://lnkd.in/eifj4t6B illustrates this commitment. 🌎 The video includes seven languages and launches in the user's language automatically, thanks to the alugha player. ⏩ This feature aligns well with Tübingen's sustainable approach by allowing multiple audio tracks in a single video, significantly reducing the need for additional storage space and bandwidth. By choosing alugha, one opts for a KI-powered and data-secure product from Baden-Württemberg. Presenting my research on Dagens Industri, Stora mobilitetsdagen today together with Mistra SAMS program director Anna Kramers. There seems to be a rather wide recognition among presenters that even though electric cars are important to reduce emissions from the transport sector, it is not enough.
