November is dedicated to Food Waste Reduction and our employees have been passionate about sharing their thoughts on this important issue. You've already heard about our Feed it Back project, the core of this project is to donate surplus food items that are still safe to consume to NGOs. This ensures that food that would otherwise be discarded is put to good use, feeding those in need. As our #teamlidl mentioned in their testimonials, this project is not just about reducing waste, but also about helping our community. Our dedicated team is committed to sustainability and they’re proud to be part of this initiative. They're the ones who bring projects like this to life and make it a reality! Together, we can make a significant impact on reducing food waste. #FeedItBack #ReduceFoodWaste #Sustainability #ClimateAction #LidlMalta

Food waste is a major contributor to landfill waste, and it’s also a waste of money for your business. To reduce food waste, track your inventory carefully and plan your menus accordingly. You can also donate excess food to local food banks and compost it. With the average restaurant producing 100,000 pounds of garbage every year, implementing a comprehensive composting program can reduce the annual garbage output by up to 50% per year. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, food waste adds up, resulting in US restaurants collectively producing 22 to 33 billion pounds of food waste every year.
