🌍 🌟 🌿 And it's a wrap! Last week Jonas Petry and I had the chance to attend the GREENTECH FESTIVAL organized by Nico Rosberg. Here are my key learnings from attending the festival: #CircularEconomy practices are gaining traction as companies look to reduce waste and reuse materials. AI plays a significant role in optimizing supply chains and minimizing environmental impact. #SustainableCompanyCulture is more than just a trend; it’s a necessity. By integrating sustainability into the core values of a company, businesses can foster an environment that supports long-term ecological and economic benefits. #EmployeeEngagement in sustainability initiatives is essential. Companies that actively involve their employees in green practices see higher levels of participation and a stronger commitment to their sustainability goals. #SustainabilityEnablement is crucial for driving global environmental initiatives and ensuring that companies can thrive while being eco-conscious. With the advent of #AI, we can create more effective and personalized sustainability training programs tailored for large enterprises. #GreenInvestments are on the rise, with venture capitalists and angel investors recognizing the potential of eco-friendly startups. This influx of funding is driving innovation and growth in the sustainability sector. #AIinSustainability is not just about automating processes but also about enhancing them. From energy management systems to personalized training modules, AI is making sustainability more accessible and actionable for enterprises. During the festival, I had the pleasure of engaging in insightful conversations with some of the brightest minds in the industry. A special thanks to Thiemo Färber, Benedikt Reith, Annalena Hojenski, Gabriele Haessig, Sascha Weiler, Christoph Praun & all the other people we had a chance to exchange with. This week SprintWize attended a very interesting and captivating conference in Rome, organized by @EIT - the European Institute of Innovation and Technology - more specifically by EIT Food. There are others, like EIT Climate, EIT Energy, EIT Health, etc. ✨EIT Food is about the sustainability of our food system, the innovation to attain it, fostering a food startup ecosystem, educating the consumer and more. It’s about building a future-fit food system that produces healthy and sustainable food (food systems are responsible for 25% of CO2 emissions!). 👆 Sprintwize is about strategy & sustainability. So yes, we needed to be there and we were not disappointed, to say the least! 💥 It was an intense and inspiring conference, meeting with several startup entrepreneurs and other EIT innovators. And like Richard Zaltzman, new CEO of EIT Food, we believe in fast, focused and more successful innovation to transform our food systems, as well as business creation and acceleration. We could not agree more! 🚀 Business opportunities ahead of us, because we need to be successful to be able to drive lasting impact! On to the next EIT conference. On our current trajectory, we won't have enough. We won't have enough biodiversity. We won't have enough natural resources for functioning business models. And we won't have nearly enough carbon removal capacity that companies would need at net zero dates (to neutralise last mile emissions) I love the analogy by Adrian in his video here. Another way I like to frame it: Its like saying that Cape Town wants to fully run on renewable energy by 2040, but then waiting until 2040 to build enough solar and wind farms 🙃 Will be interesting to see how SBTi and other standards react to the elephant in the room 🥵
