🌱 The FutureFoodS partnership for Sustainable Food Systems has been launched! 🤝 Involving 86 partners from 29 countries, it aims to accelerate the development of sustainable food systems trough the mobilization of local and national governments, civil society organisations, universities and other research organizations🔝 ♻ The partnership will contribute to the EU’s Green Deal objective “Fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food systems, from primary production to consumption”. It will strive to accelerate the change towards safe, sustainable, healthy and resilient food systems while making them trusted and accessible and respecting our planetary boundaries. 📅 Planned actions include open calls for research and innovation, with the first call launching before the end of 2024. This partnership will also develop Living Labs, a new EU food system observatory and also organise several knowledge sharing events. My thoughts for today, and every day! Sustainable food production plays a key role in protecting nature, maintaining healthy soil, and preventing the loss of biodiversity. We, as humankind, must act now against the greatest threat we have ever faced: the total loss of natural habitats and healthy soil. If we lose these two crucial elements, we will enter a new phase of existence that demands extreme solutions. This will—or should I say, it will—change everything about how we live today if we don't act now. Our children and grandchildren will not have the opportunity to experience and enjoy a healthy natural environment. My vision is that by acting now, we can find suitable solutions for everyone to live and thrive in harmony with nature, producing healthy, environmentally friendly, and animal-friendly food.
