DO WORK READY ORDERS WORK? Years ago in the early days of ECO, I put together and led a door-can team. I brought the leads in, everyone was happy. Then it began to fall apart. This lead was not good and that lead was no good, this job never got fitted, this one did but they never made enough money, it all just fell apart. I’m not blaming anyone; it seemed to be the thing then (and still is in some cases now), in that game. We started hearing things like “work ready orders because I have had my fingers burnt in the past”, and it went on, sceptical business dealing with sceptical lead generators. So I ran for the hills, never to return. I now lead a happy life as a business coach and have done ever since. Looking back I asked myself (with my business coach hat on) why this didn’t work, and was there a better way. Straight away I noticed this was a niche market and didn’t work the way other markets worked, because in the middle of all the other stuff you have to worry about, there is also compliance, and that was why this system was doomed to fail, because none of the process was properly connected. Don’t get me wrong some business owners think, “it works OK for me, or I can’t be bothered”, and that’s OK, if that’s you don’t read on. Look at marketing on its own, where if a business posted an advert and didn’t get the return they expected, they didn’t say to the media vehicle I’m not paying you because I didn’t get what I expected (even though I never told you what my expectations where in the first place). How did it all become so disjointed? Sales teams blaming the marketing for getting them rubbish leads, then marketing complaining because they are not allowed to test the market. Compliance saying, this won’t go through. Then the blame game starts. Then the directors shrug their shoulders and say “what going on guys”. Sound familiar? A fix may be: · Start with strategy and planning. · Then marketing. · Then ad in compliance with lead conversion. · Then sales. Sounds easy! You need all of the above not just one or 2 of them and it must flow, it can’t be disjointed. No more shrugging shoulders or shelling out for a system that clearly isn’t working. Let me tell you a story of how everything in the marketing and sales pipeline was AWESOME...until it wasn't. Someone reached out to me and asked if I wanted to write a book. I said I would...in the future (key point for later). Not now. They said they had a streamlined process to help write a book in a VERY short amount of time while you are building your business that can help you build your business. I bit. As the call neared I got excited. Their process was VERY tight. The call was about a month out when I booked it. A week later an educational email, the next week an action step I needed to take, the week after that another touch point, and it was a well-oiled machine. This was a great indication to me that their book writing process would be the same. Maybe I would write a book sooner than I thought! Then the day of... I was asked if I was interested in publishing a book in the next 60 days. Odd considering one of your intake forms asked the same question and I definitely did not specify that timeframe. I answered "I was not." The response shocked me... "There is no real need for us to jump on the phone today, then; let's save ourselves the time and circle back when you are within at least 30 days of actually wanting to do this. I'll make sure to reach back out then." 🤔 🤔 Where should I start...? Let me make a list of things wrong with this: - You asked a question a second time so you clearly didn't read the information you asked me to provide - If you are a Founder/CEO building a business, writing a book is a massive undertaking and a huge change in how you were planning on strategically investing your time...so what CEO is going to cram this process into the next 60 days without learning about the process, considering their current plan, and seeing if they can make it work? Doesn't even make sense. - You cancelled on your customer - You value your time more than you value me or my time as the customer...point blank - "...ACTUALLY wanting to do this." Did I inconvenience you? What is with the attitude? All in all what are the lessons to learn here? 1. Details matter. Your entire drive could be perfect, but if you fumble on the 5 yard line you didn't score the touchdown...finish the drive! Score the TD! Make the sale. Every play matters. 2. You should always value your customers time as much or more than yours...called selflessness...you are there to serve them 3. You can qualify out a customer...that is being a good salesperson...but for God sakes do it with some tact 4. You have now created a competitor because I will publish multiple books someday and it won't be with you, you lost a customer, and now you have someone who will actively tell people not to work with you if your name/company is brought up...YIKES...big miss Think through your revenue cycle from first touch to that customer churning through the lens of your customer, not you. [I burned out on my biz]: A few years back I burnt out hard core on my business. I’d prescribed to the classic Bro Scaler strategy of: - Hustle to generate leads - Hunt down those leads - Close them to become clients on the phone Seems simple enough. And logically it makes sense. But there’s a fatal flaw to that plan… Businesses without a customer cash flow strategy, grind and grind and grind until they croak and die. You spend all day in the DMs chasing down leads. Then do everything you can to get them on the phone to hard close them. It drains your time, drains your energy and feels like you’re stuck on the marketing and selling hamster wheel from hell. Always wondering where your next client is coming from. It’s no wonder I (and many coaches I know) burnt out following this strategy. But don’t worry. There’s a better way. It’s called The Automatic Customer Engine™ Before we go any further, let’s get some simple definitions out of the way: - A lead is someone you’ve earned the right to communicate with - A customer is someone that has purchased a one time product, course or workshop from you. - A client stacks recurring revenue because they’ve signed up to work with you on a recurring basis. You HAVE to appreciate that leads and customers are not created equally… As customers are upwards of 20x more likely to become a client than a lead. I’ve proven this with Total Man. Where north of 50% of new sign ups this year bought one of my customer offers before joining. The magic is in identifying the customers in your audience vs. the leads and forever maybe’s that waste your time. And then focusing on turning those customers into clients (with far fewer words and less convincing). Business becomes much simpler when you: - Create customers every day - Ascend them into clients every week - Get paid like clockwork. This is the Total Man way. While other coaches are out focusing on lead generation. We’re focused on customer generation. The switch was a choice on where my energy was best spent. And it wasn’t talking to strangers, managing a team or spamming folks in the DMs. It was giving that energy back to myself, my wife, my son, my clients, my health and my creativity. I replaced a long, cumbersome, draining sales cycle with something more effective for me… The Automatic Customer Engine. I’ve pulled it out of my private stash and made it available again to the public through Thursday for $100. Heyy I just started a business!! So I thought about this thing and I think I LIKE IT We'd do it and it will really sell😭 Who am I talking about? Is it You or someone you know? As if that mistake isn't enough... (An idea isn't equal to a viable business) Many business owners open social media pages or convert theirs to professional Next, they start posting People are not liking or commenting They try to post on your Whatsapp status, their friends are giving them thumbs up, but not asking for account details Those who have asked to know about it Said they'll get back to them Problems at every stage of sales😪 But how will I suggest you do it differently? Yes, just start was the initial advice But it's 2 weeks, 2 months, 1 year Into the business My friend, you need a strategy! No matter how sincere, fast, and bold you are, if you press the wrong buttons in your relationship with your customers, you'd get the wrong results! Pre-launch of the business? Do your research—do people need this product? But that's not my main focus today. Here's a mini-marketing strategy💡: Answer these questions: Where are my customers(online/physically)? What are their biggest challenges in relation to my product? Here are three parts of your sales: 1. Lead Generation: How you get new customers? Lead Generation is either organic (free) or Paid (ads majorly). All you need here is a lead magnet—create a FREE material (video, webinar, training) that solves a major problem they have. Collect their details in exchange for it. Finished! 2. Customer Nurturing: Can you marry someone you just met? Make them: - Know you - Like you - Trust you Put them in a space for this— like your page, newsletter, or channel. Now EDUCATE—this creates like and trust. Explain how you understand them and have their solutions. Be a friend—we all patronize our friends. Show testimonials. 3. Sales Closing Strategy: Now to sell—don't sell your product or your service. Yes… Sell an offer. Read up on this—make a promise, add some urgency. There's a difference between "I sell female shoes" and Buy "Dara Shoes" and get 1 year warranty plus free consultancy on foot wear the 2nd is an offer With proper pricing, a basic sales technique or a more advanced one I CAN CRAFT for you, you'd sell better I forgot to say...
