In this first phase of the project, all partners are engaged in research on current legislation to prevent food waste. 🔎 The research moves on three levels of legislation: European, national and regional. This is to enable a screening of the current situation. The EFRI partner (University of Rijeka, Faculty of Economics and Business) will collect all the data to make a joint/project analysis of the IT-HR regulatory and policy framework 📖 #Ecofoodcycle #foodwaste #sustainability#enviroment #food #foodstorage #InterregITA-HR JAVNA USTANOVA REGIONALNA RAZVOJNA AGENCIJA KARLOVAČKE ŽUPANIJE Agencija za razvoj Zadarske županije ZADRA NOVA Ekonomski fakultet Sveučilišta u Rijeci ECAMRICERT SRL a Mérieux Nutrisciences Company Università degli Studi di Foggia CNA Abruzzo Interreg Italy-Croatia

Exciting week in Strasbourg! Our Senior Public Affairs Manager, Delphine Close, is following the Plenary session in the European Parliament and is engaging with MEPs to explain our sector’s policy ambitions and needs. What’s the news? 🔹 The European Parliament has given its green light for the adoption of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (#PPWR). This is a key step in the #EU’s journey towards a #CircularEconomy for #BeveragePackaging. Our eyes are now turning to the Council of the EU, which is expected to approve the text next month. 🔹 The European Parliament approved the new European Commission, which will take office on 1 December. Now is the time to start working together to drive Europe’s #competitiveness. There is a lot of work ahead of us! For our sector, it is crucial that there is policy support to: ➡️ Help the industry stay competitive and thrive sustainably. Our sector plays a vital role within the European #food and #drink industry by supporting over 1.8 million #jobs across our value chain. With over 500 production facilities across Europe, we produce more than 97% of our drinks in the continent, and source over 85% of our ingredients from European #farmers. ➡️ Prioritise proper implementation of existing #EU laws, such as the #PPWR; ➡️ Ensure that the Commission, as part of its Vision for Agriculture and Food, will collect up-to-date and reliable pan-European dietary intake data to better understand what interventions can be effective and that policies are science-based and do not discriminate against any specific food, drink or ingredient; ➡️ Recognise voluntary actions, including the continuation of the #EUCodeOfConduct on Responsible Food Business and Marketing Practices, as an effective tool for achieving meaningful change. We look forward to working closely with the new Commission for a more sustainable and competitive European #SoftDrinks sector.

I am pleased to share our new research article entitled 'Endorsers measurement for decarbonised processed food supply chain through newly befitted interval valued neutrosophic vague sets' which is published in 'Annals of Operations Research'. It focuses on the development of the roadmap for the fulfillment of decarbonisation goals in the context of food supply chains. Outcomes are developed based on a synthesis of metrics by newly befitted interval-valued neutrosophic vague sets. I am thankful to Dr Mohit Tyagi, ARVIND BHARDWAJ for their kind guidance and support to pursue this study. The link to visit this article is: https://lnkd.in/g-UDcjHD.

On May 21, Netherlands Food Partnership organised the network dialogue '𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗗𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀'. On the agenda was the recently published policy letter describing the international commitment of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV). Close to 50 stakeholders from knowledge institutes, civil society and private sector provided recommendations on the implementation of this policy, focusing on a specific cross-cutting theme: inclusivity. 🌱🌍 Let’s pave the way for new food & agri technologies in Europe! 🌍🌱 This is our message in Altinget.dk today alongside with Dansk Planteværn. Biosolutions such as biological plant protection products, biostimulants and fermented food and ingredients can help to secure a resilient future of European Food Systems. The question is how to get the technologies faster to market, as the current European approval process is longer than in the rest of the world? That is why we a few weeks ago invited 4 engaged EP-candidates - Marianne Lynghøj (V), Rikke Lauritsen(SF), Helle Laursen Petersen (K) & Anne Sophie Callesen (RV) - to discuss the role of new technologies within the food production in EU. 📣And the discussion continues. Read the full opinion piece (in Danish) here written by our managing director Anne Lerche and Tanja Andersen, Director at Dansk Planteværn 👇 Link: https://lnkd.in/dgzGCrmr #Agriculture #FoodTechnology #Sustainability #EUElections2024 #Innovation #Biosolutions #DanskPlanteværn #GreenTransition

How can food alternatives be analyzed within the current food regime? As part of our research project "FoodAlternatives", a new theoretical paper was published that suggests ways to connect these debates by drawing on social science theories. Read the full article in Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems.
Important theoretical contribution of our project "Values-based modes of production and consumption: analyzing how food alternatives transform the current food regime" is out in Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems: "The current food regime has experienced a multidimensional crisis, driving further unjust and unsustainable development. Various food alternatives address these challenges by promoting different modes of alternative production and consumption. However, they are not extensively theoretically addressed within the food regime literature. Thus, we suggest analyzing food regimes with further social science theories to explore food alternatives and their possible contributions to transforming the present food regime. Drawing on a combination of critical state theory, the social capital concept, and territorial approaches, we introduce an interdisciplinary conceptual framework called values-based modes of production and consumption. We assume that food alternatives are based on values other than economic ones, such as democracy, solidarity, or trust. The framework allows examining perspectives of transformation that focus on conflict or cooperation and how they can be interlinked. We aim to determine entry points for analyzing food alternatives within the current food regime because these enable an exchange between debates that are usually taking place alongside each other. By linking them, we aim to inspire further insightful interdisciplinary research." https://lnkd.in/dHhpbgxc
