Deadline Cloud has two Fleet types; Service-Managed Fleets (SMF), where all the compute happens as part of the AWS Deadline Cloud managed service, and Customer-Managed Fleets (CMF), where the compute happens in your own AWS account, or even on premises. Check this out this post where Sean Wallitsch breaks down what you need to know about CMF in AWS Deadline Cloud.

Distinguishing AWS CloudTrail, CloudWatch, and Config In the fast-paced world of cloud technology, there’s a veritable smorgasbord of services, each with unique specialities and capabilities. This rich landscape can perplex novices, as one can easily get lost in the sea of acronyms and monikers. Three such services by Amazon Web Services (AWS) — CloudTrail, CloudWatch, and Config — often serve as sources of confusion. #aws #cloudwatch #cloudtrail #config #sre #cloudmonitoring #observability https://lnkd.in/gPe6UaRR.

Ten years of Amazon ECS! ECS is an amazing service that sometimes seems to live under Kubernetes shadow, but I like it much more. It's built for the AWS cloud so it is tightly integrated with our other services, with no six monthly control plane upgrade, you don't even have to think about the control plane. And it's been a great home for innovation as you can see in the blog post below. For running containers at scale ECS is a great choice with much less complexity if you're in the AWS cloud (or even on-premises with ECS Anywhere) https://lnkd.in/gineJD8W

One of the great promises of cloud computing is dynamic resource scaling. When you get a spike in demand the cloud providers have the resources you need to use right away and when you have lulls in your traffic you can quickly stop using (and paying for) them. With container orchestration solutions on AWS like the Elastic Container Service (ECS) and the Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), you can use a variety of compute options including EC2 VMs, Fargate, or Spot instances of these. Spot instances are those that could potentially be taken away from you (with a small warning) but have deep discounts. AWS offers spot for both EC2 and Fargate workers although spot Fargate workers are not supported on EKS (yet) and just on ECS. This article from DavidW describes what Spot instances are and how to setup and use them with Kubernetes on EKS. https://lnkd.in/emJBKPBv

There is no one way to do a thing in the cloud era: you can use Saas, Iaas, Paas and so on. The costs change, the experience change and also the effort dramatically change. One of the battle you will find when you create a distributed service is about ECS Vs EKs. They are both managed services but the first is strictly coupled to AWS ecosystem and is very easily integrated with all the services (lambda and so on) while the second just help you to manage the infrastructure but is is still a k8s installation and it is all on your own. The first is of course more simple then the second and if you need a rapid go to market it is preferable. Fargate is another way to manage ECS and EKS infrastructure let AWS pick the best choice for you and reduce consumption. For tiny workload it will be the best choice because you will deploy rapidly and you pay what you use (while the other two requires usually reserved instances). Then if your consumption grows you can switch to The original version of service without Fargate. It is a long article but it will explain all Take a look https://lnkd.in/ddAjQUHP
