Investing in #leadership is one of the most efficient and effective ways of strengthening education systems and improving teaching and learning at scale, and is second only to the quality of teaching in terms of impact on learning outcomes. We support school and system leaders to become agents of change beyond their own school or district, driving efficient and effective #schoolreform. On our TEACH programme in #Zimbabwe, for example, we help #schoolleaders develop their #leadershipskills and drive improvements in school performance. We support them with competency frameworks, toolkits, and training in inclusion and overcoming barriers to learning for marginalised groups. The role of school heads as agents of change is indeed pivotal to transforming educational settings. It is commonly observed that many headteachers and principals, rely on a traditional top-down hierarchical leadership style due to limited exposure to modern leadership paradigms. This narrow understanding of leadership often leads to challenges such as student underachievement, dropout rates, teacher turnover, and dissatisfaction among parents and the community. To overcome these issues, it is crucial to equip school leaders with emerging concepts and practices in organizational and educational leadership.
