“Learning through hands-on experience” – My Social Impact Measurement Journey! ✅ According to Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) policy of India, the first six years of life are critical, it is the period of most rapid growth and development that influences the pathways of physical, mental and behavior throughout the life cycle. United Way of Bengaluru is the early adapter of this policy and initiated a campaign called #BornLearningCampaign with an aim to provide safe and conducive nutritional and educational environment for children in the Anganwadi Centers. Anganwadi workers are central to this campaign. I am part of designing, executing the pre and post training information retention studies 🔍 and also looping back the learning in project execution. These assessments help in measuring training effectiveness. I administered tailored assessment tools specific to #trainingcontent focusing on basic knowledge on #ECCE, teaching skills, domains of #childdevelopment, numeracy skills, monitoring child development milestone and management of Anganwadi center. During our training, we saw improvement in Anganwadi workers' knowledge. Not only did correct answers increase from #preassessment to #postassessment🖋, but incorrect responses also significantly decreased. For example, Anganwadi workers understanding that children learn by "imitation" went up from 66% in the pre-test to 82% in the post-test. We also carried out follow-up #evaluations where post training we physically visited Anganwadi centers to measure the knowledge transfer from #Anganwadi worker to the children. Do visit the #nextpost to learn more about these evaluations. Lokesh Gujjarappa Bhagya Kumar Jyoti Gupta United Way Bengaluru

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted learning and livelihoods across India but Pratham’s work in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district illustrates how communities can drive recovery. Through its Hamara Gaon initiative, Pratham addressed learning losses in children, enhanced skills among youth, and supported women’s education. Using the Teaching-at-the-Right-Level (TaRL) methodology, the organisation collaborated with families, schools, and young volunteers to help children regain foundational reading and math skills. It also started an initiative called Education for Education (EfE) to encourage participation of volunteers by offering short, digital courses in return for their support for children’s learning. Community vocational training camps introduced skills in welding, nursing, and beauty, while the Second Chance program helped school dropouts, especially women, complete Grade 10. Pratham’s residential skilling centre in the neighbouring district of Dhamtari further supported youth employment pathways. Pratham's Siddhesh Mhatre and Gaurav Sharma delve deeper into these efforts. Read their blog (https://lnkd.in/g6-dEDeA) to learn how Kanker and Dhamtari have evolved as strategic locations for Pratham’s education and skilling programs in the last few years. #EducationForAll #TeachingAtTheRightLevel #EarlyChildhoodEducation #FoundationalLearning #VocationalTraining #SkillDevelopment #SecondChance

Empowering 25 Lakh+ Children in Madhya Pradesh through Mission Ankur✍️📚 Ensuring strong foundational literacy and numeracy skills for over 25 lakh children in Madhya Pradesh is a monumental task. However, a clear plan makes the path smoother. Aligned with the NIPUN Bharat Mission, here's how the Mission Ankur Team ensures success for every child in grades 1, 2, and 3 through the FLN initiative: Mission Ankur follows a structured three-phase plan across six workstreams: 1. Teaching-Learning and Pedagogy 2. Teacher Professional Development 3. Goal Setting and Assessments 4. Academic Mentoring for Teachers 5. Strengthened Monitoring and Governance Systems 6. Mission Enablers—such as parental engagement and the MPNP Fellowship. During Phase One (2021-24), the focus has been on design and input strengthening. In Phase Two (2024-25), the emphasis will be on output stabilization. In Phase Three (2025 onwards), the concentration will be on outcome-oriented delivery. This comprehensive approach effectively supports each child's educational journey, laying a strong foundation for future learning and development. The Ekal Vidyalaya Movement: One Teacher, One Village In the remote tribal and rural regions of India, where access to formal schooling is nearly impossible, the Ekal Vidyalaya Movement has quietly revolutionized education. Founded in 1986, this initiative focuses on providing basic education to children in underserved areas with just one teacher per school. The movement began in the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, where a group of passionate educators realized that building large schools in remote areas was impractical. Instead, they proposed a simple yet effective model: a one-teacher school, or Ekal Vidyalaya, which could operate in any available space, such as a hut, temple, or under a tree. Each Ekal school teaches up to 30 children at a time, covering basic literacy, numeracy, and life skills. The curriculum also includes health awareness, sanitation practices, and vocational training, ensuring that students not only gain an education but also practical knowledge to improve their lives. What sets Ekal apart is its scale and reach. Today, the movement operates over 100,000 schools across India, serving more than 2.8 million children. Despite its simplicity, the model is highly efficient, costing just ₹20,000 annually to run each school. Beyond education, Ekal empowers local communities by recruiting and training teachers from the same villages, fostering a sense of ownership and cultural preservation. The movement has also inspired other social initiatives, such as digital literacy programs and agricultural training for adults. The Ekal Vidyalaya Movement is a powerful reminder that transformative change doesn’t always require massive infrastructure or complex systems. Sometimes, all it takes is a single teacher with a mission to light the lamp of knowledge, one village at a time.

The Alarming Education Crisis in Uttar Pradesh! Recent data from the Lok Sabha reveals a distressing scenario—over 11.7 million children across India are not enrolled in schools. Uttar Pradesh alone accounting for a staggering 7.85 lakh out-of-school students. States like Jharkhand and Assam are also grappling with thousands of children missing out on education. These numbers are more than statistics—they represent dreams deferred, potential lost, and futures at stake. Parliament's Education Minister Jayant Chaudhary responded to the question of Telugu Desham Party MP Mathukumili Shri Bharat from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh that more than 11 lakh 70 thousand students across the country are deprived of admission in schools. At DEVI Sansthan, we believe that education is the cornerstone of empowerment. By equipping young learners with Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) skills, we can transform not only individual lives but also the trajectory of our nation. Our Contribution to FLN: 1️⃣ Training Educators as Leaders – We empower teachers with innovative teaching methodologies, fostering a culture of lifelong learning. 2️⃣ Community-Centered Learning Models – Bridging the gap between schools and communities to create sustainable and inclusive education ecosystems. 3️⃣ Tech-Enabled Learning Resources – Leveraging technology to make quality education accessible to every child, regardless of their socio-economic background. 4️⃣ Policy Advocacy for FLN – Engaging with policymakers to prioritize foundational literacy and numeracy as a national imperative. It’s time for collective action to ensure every child’s Right to Education becomes a reality. Together, we can rewrite the future for these young minds and drive impactful change. P.S. Reshare if you feel these numbers are concerning. #YogiAdityanath #EducationNews #UPNews #RightToEducation #FLN #ChildEmpowerment #FutureOfIndia #ABPNews #EducationMatters #SocialImpact #UttarPradesh #UttarPradeshNews
