A three-day workshop, conducted in two batches with 60 Anganwadi workers, was organized in collaboration with the CII Foundation and supported by Blue Star Limited in Tada Mandal, Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. Highlights of the Workshop: 📌 Day 1: Exploring the significance of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), understanding the notion of a child, and understanding the domains of development. 📌 Day 2: Addressing the developmental needs of children, introducing play-based methodologies, and structuring a daily routine focusing on circle time, free play, literacy, and numeracy activities. 📌 Day 3: Innovating with locally available materials to create sustainable and effective Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs). This workshop aimed at equipping Anganwadi educators with the skills and resources to build engaging and enriching learning environments for young children in Anganwadi Centres. Transforming education with health programs At Tarang Health Alliance, we are committed to redefining the role of health education within the academic landscape. The Comprehensive School Health Program (CSHP) is our flagship initiative that provides students with essential tools for lifelong health. The program is currently running in around 30 schools in Delhi NCR, Jaipur, and Chandigarh, reaching over 8,500 students. Implementing the CSHP involves a collaborative effort with educational institutions, ensuring that health education becomes an integral part of existing curricula. We conduct teacher training sessions that equip educators with the necessary skills to convey health content effectively. These sessions cover crucial topics such as mental health awareness, nutrition, and physical fitness, enabling teachers to utilise innovative strategies that actively engage students. Additionally, our program employs hands-on approaches through workshops that allow students to practice healthy habits. For instance, cooking classes focused on nutrition educate students about healthy eating while engaging them in meal preparation. This experiential learning deepens their understanding of health concepts and encourages informed choices beyond the classroom. Through continuous assessment and feedback mechanisms, we adapt our curriculum to meet students' evolving needs, ensuring that health education remains relevant and impactful. The Ekal Vidyalaya Movement: One Teacher, One Village In the remote tribal and rural regions of India, where access to formal schooling is nearly impossible, the Ekal Vidyalaya Movement has quietly revolutionized education. Founded in 1986, this initiative focuses on providing basic education to children in underserved areas with just one teacher per school. The movement began in the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, where a group of passionate educators realized that building large schools in remote areas was impractical. Instead, they proposed a simple yet effective model: a one-teacher school, or Ekal Vidyalaya, which could operate in any available space, such as a hut, temple, or under a tree. Each Ekal school teaches up to 30 children at a time, covering basic literacy, numeracy, and life skills. The curriculum also includes health awareness, sanitation practices, and vocational training, ensuring that students not only gain an education but also practical knowledge to improve their lives. What sets Ekal apart is its scale and reach. Today, the movement operates over 100,000 schools across India, serving more than 2.8 million children. Despite its simplicity, the model is highly efficient, costing just ₹20,000 annually to run each school. Beyond education, Ekal empowers local communities by recruiting and training teachers from the same villages, fostering a sense of ownership and cultural preservation. The movement has also inspired other social initiatives, such as digital literacy programs and agricultural training for adults. The Ekal Vidyalaya Movement is a powerful reminder that transformative change doesn’t always require massive infrastructure or complex systems. Sometimes, all it takes is a single teacher with a mission to light the lamp of knowledge, one village at a time.

🌱 Empowering Education in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh – Building Brighter Futures, One Child at a Time 🌱 We are thrilled to share the progress of the Sonalika Gurukul Education Project in Firozabad associated with CRY , where we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of children across 15 villages. With the support of community leaders and local authorities, we are helping young minds unlock their potential through education. Here’s a glimpse of our impact this quarter: ✨ Creating Safe Learning Spaces We’ve set up three Children Activity Centers (CACs) and twelve learning centers, which together are welcoming 841 children into structured, engaging environments. From math games to storytelling sessions, the centers provide essential learning tools to build skills in counting, reading, and problem-solving. 🎉 Community Events & Celebrations Events like Independence Day celebrations and the School Chalo Abhiyaan enrollment drive have engaged over 1,200 villagers, inspiring families to prioritize education. This has resulted in a significant increase in school attendance. 📚 Hands-On Learning & Skill Development Children are developing social skills, confidence, and a love for learning through interactive activities like cricket, carom, and number games. Our learning corners encourage curiosity and foster personal growth through storytelling and problem-solving. 👫 Empowering Local Leadership Community leaders play an essential role in guiding children and encouraging families to invest in education. Awareness programs on hygiene, nutrition, and the value of education are helping build a strong, community-wide commitment. 💧 Accessing Government Support & Health Initiatives We facilitate children’s access to mid-day meals in schools and AWCs and support preventive measures against vector-borne diseases, sanitation, and seasonal health concerns. This quarter, we also conducted a dedicated health campaign in collaboration with local government authorities to address these issues, ensuring the well-being of children and the wider community. Empowering #AnganwadiWorkers through support in cluster meetings! The #SHAKTI project, in collaboration with the #Bosch India Foundation and the #ICDS Department in Nashik, aims to enhance early childhood education in tribal areas. A cluster meeting for the Samundi and Take Devgaon clusters was organized at the Anganwadi in the first week of December at Pegalwadi. Supervisor Mrs. Shweta Gadakh initiated the meeting by discussing the training received by Anganwadi Workers. Anganwadi Workers shared the activities from the training and the challenges they face in implementation. This #collaborative discussion is crucial for continuous #improvement.
