What an insightful discussion on Regenerative Futures last Friday - thank you so much Daniel Christian Wahl, Tuukka Toivonen, PhD (Oxford), Delfina Fantini van Ditmar, Minna Halme, Katri Einola and Kimmo J Lipponen ! https://lnkd.in/dbXearPB During the event, we showed an inspiration video (in English, too) on regenerative business, produced together with Sitra and FIBS: https://lnkd.in/dxya6_5h But what did the participants think about regeneration? I inserted the key insights written by our participants into AI, which produced this summary: 💡 1. Regeneration vs. Sustainability: Regeneration is a process, while sustainability is the outcome. Understanding and integrating both is crucial. 💡 2. Holistic Approach: Focus on regenerating not just businesses but entire ecosystems, acknowledging indigenous knowledge alongside scientific perspectives. 💡 3. Three-way Thinking: Emphasize individual, community, and planetary perspectives in decision-making and actions. 💡 4. Transformative Changes: Regenerative thinking requires profound transformation in business practices rather than minor adjustments. 💡 5. Learning from Nature: Nature provides inspiration and guidance for regenerative practices. Ask nature what it wants. 💡 6. Inner Dimension: Regenerative thinking starts with personal inner development and mindset shifts, fostering deeper connections to life. 💡 7. Local Action: Emphasize localized actions and solutions tailored to specific ecosystems and communities. 💡 8. Hope and Inspiration: Despite challenges, there is hope for change. Businesses have the potential to transform and contribute to regenerative practices. 💡 9. Practical Implementation: Understanding theory is important, but practical steps and examples are necessary for effective application of regenerative thinking. 💡 10. Diverse Knowledge: Incorporate arts, humanities, and social sciences alongside natural sciences in transdisciplinary approaches for a comprehensive understanding of regeneration. #regeneration #future #regenerativebusiness #sustainability

#GreenStar results are clear: Slovene business needs to better understand opportunities #sustainability is offering. It's a path from meeting minimum market, legislative... requirements to making business models more profitable, competitive and resistant.
🌿📈 Green Star analiza: zelena preobrazba podjetij = priložnost in nuja za slovenska podjetja 📈🌿Za Bloomberg Adria je #GreenStar analizo predstavila Ana Struna Bregar, izvršna direktorica CER. Analiza Green Star kaže, da so slovenska podjetja stopila na pot trajnostne preobrazbe, zavedanje o pomenu ESG vidikov in podnebnega ukrepanja narašča, a še vedno so potrebni premiki. Our portfolio startup Origin by Ocean has partnered with Pidä Saaristo Siistinä ry to conduct a pilot project harvesting blue-green algae in the #Turku archipelago. 🛥️🌿 The collected #algae will be used in a bio-refining process to produce sustainable, bio-based chemicals designed to replace traditional oil-based ingredients in consumer products such as sunscreen. 🧴 ObO has successfully used brown and green algae in the past, however, this marks their first attempt at using harmful blue-algae from the #BalticSea, where #eutrophication affects up to 97% of the water’s surface. Solutions like this not only represent the next wave of blue economy innovation 🌊 but also help #MoveTheDate for #EarthOvershootDay by reducing phosphorus loads in our world’s oceans and seas and the carbon footprint of end products. 🌍 In 2024, Earth Overshoot Day falls on August 1st, one day earlier than last year. ___ 📺 Watch Origin by Ocean’s feature (2 min 34 s) on MTV FI here (in Finnish): https://lnkd.in/gMqwg38x #Bioeconomy #CircularEconomy #CleanTech

ALIVE Program - Patricia lives on a beautiful island. She dreams of building a greenhouse where she can grow her favorite food crops, such as a variety of vegetables and fruits, and raise fish and shrimp to create a good livelihood and provide nutritious agricultural products to the nearby market. The greenhouse must generate sufficient and stable renewable energy without carbon emissions and pollution. Step 1 - Greenhouse with Rooftop dishes Step 2 - Electricity power 24/7 ( CSP thermal) Step 3 – Thermal energy driven Cold Storage & Air-con Step 4 – Seawater Desalination (Fresh Water) Step 5 – Greenhouse photosynthesis (Delicate Agriculture) Step 6 – Greenhouse for fish farm (Delicate aquaculture) Step 7 – Instant freezing technology for produces preservation Step 8 – Additional Power: Indoor & outdoor PV Step 9 – Process elephant grass to produce liquid and solid fuel as biomass energy Patricia now has an independent renewable energy-driven greenhouse that provides electricity and water for crops and fisheries, creating sustainable economic value for herself and the community. The system solves many key livelihood challenges faced by island/rural areas, including electricity, pure water, greenhouses, fish ponds, air conditioning, and freezers to meet daily needs and promote the development of residents, while earning income from crops, green electricity, and carbon trading.

6moThank you Eeva Hellström for a very enjoyable and stimulating time in Finland. I am deeply impressed by what I learned about how far along in building a field of human relationships across sectors and over time (and with a foresight/anticipation dimension to it) Finnish society is. I so wish to see such approaches inspiring other places.
