𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬? That was the core issue at the closing event of the INTERLOCALITY project. During a two-day event we exchanged tools, ideas, frustrations and best practices. 🛠️ In one of the workshops Dick Siesling and I presented the I AM Talent tool. The 𝐈 𝐀𝐌 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥 is a tested survey that is based on literature research, over 100 interviews and is grounded in an extensive theoretical framework. This tool helps international students themselves gain insight in the various dimensions of their employability. But, as the workshop showed, it also offers Higher Education Institutes relevant information on how the international students in their institute perceive their employability as well as their development needs in that matter. This information can be relevant for policy making and implementation, but also offers the possibility to customise the road to employability of their students by linking different existing tools, websites and other information to a platform. This enables regular Personal Professional Development programmes to go to a next level! 🤝 In the workshop, the experiences and lessons learnt from the pilot of the I AM Talent tool within Fonty were shared, but the participants also shared their needs and experiences regarding monitoring the employability of international students in their own context. 📈 The INTERLOCALITY closing event as well as our workshop showed the need for a more evidence-based approach towards international students and the value of monitoring developments, but also the need for sharing knowledge and best practices. 🙏 Many thanks to the participants of event. The eagerness to share and learn from each other is inspiring. ❓ Do you want to know more about the I AM Talent tool? Just wait a few weeks while we finalize all the material, and we will keep you posted via the INTERLOCALITY profile!

I have to say this. Spoiler alert, I am going to brag about my team in the Global Teachers for a Sustainable Future Project. I don't think many people out there can learn so much from their partners and be so inspired by their work, as I am. And I don't know if many people end their meetings with a BIG smile on their faces and a feeling of ADMIRATION and GRATITUDE. I am proud of my partners and associates for how involved they are and how well they perform. And I am grateful for being so lucky to have them on my team. Yesterday we had our September follow-up meeting, in which we shared the progress made in internationalizing the curriculum and developing a Moodle platform to host the courses and other resources. Exciting proposals came out of this meeting, this time focused on student learning preferences: - Action-oriented tasks: The program should have tasks that let international students work independently and in groups. - Embedded skills: Embed technical and digital skills throughout the course. This approach helps students learn in a real-world context. - Choice and Flexibility: Students should have options for tasks and products. They can work alone and then work together in groups. - Asynchronous Work: Asynchronous work is better for coordinating sessions across time zones. This lets students do tasks on their own while still working with their classmates. - Use real media. Students should use real media in their tasks. This includes training on how to work internationally and access to videos, tutorials, and other resources. I can’t thank Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera enough for this opportunity, and I can't thank our partners enough for their brilliant work! Global Case Study Challenge, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Jönköping University, Ibn Haldun University, Technische Universität Braunschweig, Transilvania University of Brasov, REDS / SDSN Spain, Universidad de Monterrey, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, RCI ASCUN. This is an Erasmus+ KA-220 project, co-funded by the European Union, and it could not have happened without the priceless support of Agencia Nacional SEPIE Erasmus Estudiar en España. #sustainability #internationalization #globalstudents #globalteachers #admiration #gratitude

The UK's Education System: Why Looking Outward is Crucial for Success As I move towards the start date of my DEd I am increasingly drawn to research around international education systems. In our rapidly evolving global landscape, the UK education system must be prepared to look to and, where appropriate, adopt an international perspective to prepare students for future challenges. Recent research consistently demonstrates the value of an outward-looking approach: 1. The 2022 British Council report "The Global Connection" found that 80% of UK employers believe international experience makes graduates more employable. 2. A 2023 study by Leask and Green in the Journal of Studies in International Education highlighted how internationalizing curricula improves critical thinking and intercultural competence. 3. The Universities UK International (UUKi) "Gone International" report (2021) showed that graduates who studied abroad were 20% more likely to be in graduate employment or further study. To maintain our competitive edge, it is increasingly important that we: • Expand international student exchange programs • Integrate global perspectives across all subjects • Emphasize language learning and intercultural communication skills If we are to remain competitive. If you work in the sector I would be interested to know what your institutions do to integrate research and best practice from across the globe. #GlobalEducation #UKEducation #FutureOfLearning

🎓 Postgraduate International Recruitment: Differentiation in a Shrinking Market 🌍 The postgraduate international student market is tightening, with economic pressures, visa hurdles, and geopolitical shifts reducing the pool of prospective students. While many HEIs are moving online to remain competitive, the question remains: how do we differentiate in a landscape where the governing and quality assurance frameworks have shaped institutions to look and feel strikingly similar? 🚀 The challenge is especially acute in the UK. HEIs here are operating under structures that prioritize consistency, often at the expense of distinctiveness. If we all offer similar online programs, how do we stand out? 💡 Breaking the mold through strategic differentiation: ✅ Focus on Niche Programs: Develop offerings that tackle emerging global challenges. ✅ Innovative Delivery Models: Go beyond traditional online education to include blended, experiential, or localized approaches. ✅ Digital Pedagogy Mastery: Lead with cutting-edge, interactive, and personalized learning experiences. ✅ Global and Industry Alliances: Collaborate to enhance relevance, employability, and reach. In an increasingly homogenized sector, it’s not just about going online—it’s about rethinking how we deliver unique value. 📢 How is your institution adapting to this challenge? Let’s share ideas. #HigherEducation #UKHE #InternationalStudents #DigitalTransformation #BlendedLearning #EdTech #GlobalEducation
