👻 ~ Halloween #HealthData Event in NYC ~
Before I take my little Black Panther 🐾 and Simba 🦁 out on the wild Bedford streets to collect an (inevitably) nausea-inducing amount of candy, I'm going to head down to #NYC for HIMSS New York State Chapter's state event: "#Interoperability in New York: During the Age of #TEFCA, SHIN-NY, #QHINs, and the 1115 Waiver." There is a scary amount of (good) #HIE system change happening in our Empire State, and I can't wait to discuss it.
I will have the particular pleasure of guiding a discussion on "The Role of QHINs, Which One(s) to Use, and How to Use Them," with:
🎙 A. John Blair, III, MD, CEO, MedAllies
🎙Paul Wilder, Executive Director, CommonWell Health Alliance
🎙Nihit Bajaj, Technical Services Team Lead and Standards, Epic
🎙Steve Yaskin, Founder and CEO, Health Gorilla
❓ I haven't settled on my questions yet - where's the fun in that? - and would love to know what YOU want to hear from our #QHIN leaders. Let me know in the comments or DMs, and I'll report back for those who cannot attend.
For some reason, if you're in New York, are a health care leader, and are still not planning on joining - really? - I'll give you three more reasons:
(1) David Horrocks, CEO, New York eHealth Collaborative, The Sequoia Project Board Chair, and one of our nation's preeminent #healthdata leaders will deliver opening remarks. A true health system storyteller, I'm looking forward to hearing his perspective on how all of these health care system changes - at the federal- and state-levels - are presenting an opportunity for us to realize a nation-leading health data system in NY.
(2) Virginia Lorenzi, Lead Technical Analyst, at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, will then follow with a reactors panel to discuss "Existing Tools, Enablers and Capabilities to Enable Interoperability," w/ David, Zoe Barber, Policy Director of Sequoia, and Todd Rogow, CHCIO of Healthix.
(3) Tom Hallisey, Digital Health Strategy Lead at HANYS, will close us with a provider panel on "Strategies and Approaches for Interoperability in the Future" (read: so how do we REALLY do this). He'll be joined by:
- Patti Cuartas, DMSc, MBA, PA-C, PMP, FACHE, ACHIP, Executive Director + Associate CMIO at Mount Sinai Health System
- John Glynn, Board Member at NYeC + Rochester RHIO
- John Travis Gossey, Associate CMIO at Weill Cornell Medicine + Presby
- Lisa Nelson (Bukowski), Associate VP at University of Rochester Medical Center
Good Lord that's a lot of tagging.
(4) Bonus! I'll share a photo of my kids in costume. You might not care, but - like candy corn - sometimes you just have to pretend to enjoy it.
Thanks to Al Kinel for hosting, Anthony Ferrante and Bill Duax for managing me, Helen Figge CPHIMS, FHIMSS, FACHT for her leadership, and Microsoft for hosting (and while I have you, how do I make that CoPilot AI button stop popping up on my documents?).
Register now, because if I can be social you can too: https://lnkd.in/gDkbfjhw
