During our product development process, we're constantly thinking about prioritization. What do we build next? Do we focus on satisfaction drivers (something shiny ✨) or dissatisfaction drivers (where is my 😡 ) ? We've added a lot of new features that relate to the latter lately. We think we've drastically improved the way investors get (financial) reporting from us, but we also try to give context, and try to never just 'drop' information on our users. In my next post I'll dive deeper into how we find out what is important to build, and the initial process. Do you think you can do better? We're hiring a full time Product Designer. 👉 Get in touch! I don't know who needs to hear this but please stop describing yourself as 'Aspiring, Budding, Upcoming' etc. You are setting yourself up to be underpaid. You are a product designer and not an aspiring product designer! Let the recruiter/client/hiring manager assess you and determine your skill level, so they can offer compensation that is commensurate with your skills. When you describe yourself with those adjectives, you automatically create a bias in their minds and YOU WILL BE UNDERPAID. #FranklySpeakingWithFranklyne

Most in-demand role right now? = Senior Product Designer. Let's look at 6 points why: From speaking to leaders and + Head's of Product Design, + HR, One thing is clear: Senior Product Designer is the go-to choice. 1. Until 2020, the mid-weight/ senior level was the most popular role. Why? Got nearly all the experience of a senior without the high £. 2. Since 2020, and the digital boom, companies need seniors. Why? To hit the ground running with all the experience. 3. In 2024. Companies prefer full-stack product designers, 4-7 years exp., product awareness, beautiful visuals, who work solo, + lead small teams. 4. Junior Product Designers: After 10 years of recruiting, about 9 roles for that level have come in. Since 2020, the roles for juniors are vastly limited. 5. Why? Companies are reluctant to invest in training: With economic uncertainty, this takes time + £. Spending this £ on solid expeirence. 6. Heads of/ Director level: Again limited need. Why? Minimal hands-on work, companies need a mixture of design + strategy output, not just leadership + planning. Seems the Pantone colour of the year is Senior Product Designer. ________ If you are a hiring manager + see this same trend. Drop me a DM, would love to hear your views. ________

//STEVE JOBS 1984 ON THE IMPORTANCE OF A COMMON VISION I had the wrong focus. For years, I was obsessed with tech stacks, frameworks, and business plans. But while reviewing Jobs' 1984 Macintosh launch speech, one line hit me like a ton of bricks: "What drives innovation isn't the code - it's the shared dream of what could be." He was right. You can have the most talented engineers, the best UX designers, and brilliant product managers. But if they're all walking different paths toward different destinations, you'll end up with a beautiful mess. The magic happens when your entire team can close their eyes and see the same future. Tech stack? That's just the vehicle. Business model? That's just the fuel. But vision? That's the destination that makes the journey worth it. P.S. What future is your team dreaming of? ——— Chances your innovation strategy is broken are 94% https://lnkd.in/dexsVrw8 #innovation #creativity #future #whatinspiresme #innoweek #venturestudio #companybuilder #vc All rights and credits are reserved to the respective owner(s). Ryan Kilroy from Jobot is looking for a Product Designer and the pay range is $100,000-160,000. https://lnkd.in/geeuiUfZ Product managers that are being staffed by tech recruiting agencies in this market are some of the best roles to target as a candidate. There are two type of recruiters in tech. There are internal recruiters who work in house and external recruiters at agency who are paid a commission by the company to staff an extremely urgent role. 80% of the positions in tech haven’t even been posted yet, because everybody procrastinates doing work they and there’s nothing a refuting hates more than posting up jobs. Yuck, just writing this out brings back such painful memories. Here is a link to all the product manager roles being staffed by recruiters along with their name, contact information, pay rate, and remote or hybrid status. See you in Skool! https://lnkd.in/gCsMZ-Ab Don’t be late to Skool! https://lnkd.in/gCsMZ-Ab PS Let me know if you would like me to refer you and if I can I will. I am connected to tons of recruiters in the industry, but I can’t say I am close with all of them. Please RESHARE this post for all your colleagues still looking for a job. #productmanagement #productmanagementcareers #productmanagementjobs #speedtolead

If the client knew before the loss. When hiring designers or developers, many focus on cost and speed. (This often leads to setbacks.) In my journey, I listened from clients that choosing based on price alone is risky. Here's what they mentioned me for this: - Missed Value: Hiring quickly without checking skills means your solutions might not solve your real problems. It's like buying a tool that doesn't fit. - Distraction: When you don't do proper checks, you might hire people who aren't qualified. (This creates chaos instead of clarity in your projects.) - Lost Potential: It's not just about saving money. It's crucial to find someone who aligns with your vision and can deliver meaningful results. We often say we want quality, but do we prioritize it? Reflect on this: Are you focused more on cost than on value? Changing your approach can transform your outcomes. Consider this next time you're hiring. What are you really looking for? #hiring #designer #uxdesigner

💡 I believe a successful, qualified product designer brings a wide range of skills and can thrive in many roles across an organization. Designers are naturally curious, driven to fully understand problems and find insights others might miss. We apply practical methods to solve challenges and create solutions that put users first. A big part of our job is managing relationships—working with different teams, getting people on the same page, and gaining support from business leaders. We also become subject-matter experts on whatever business or industry we're designing for. It’s part of our job to dive deep into the business, learn it inside and out, and ensure we're creating products that truly meet the needs of that market. This means we’re capable of becoming subject-matter experts on a lot of topics that a job might be hiring for. We understand the product development process from start to finish. We know how to pitch ideas effectively and work closely with engineers, having enough technical understanding to collaborate well. Most importantly, we’re focused on real results, working toward goals that make a difference. If I were recruiting or hiring for roles outside of design, I’d definitely consider bringing someone in with these skills to strengthen my team. Product designers are flexible problem solvers who bring valuable insights and a broad skill set to help deliver high-quality results across the board.
