Full house at the “Trustworthy AI Made in Europe” event with Federal Minister of Education & Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger! 🚀 The inaugural TÜV AI.Lab Talks event last week highlighted political initiatives in the field of AI, including the importance of the AI Act in setting the regulatory framework, opportunities for trustworthy AI in Europe, and the importance and challenges of AI testing and certification. 💡 Here are some of the key takeaways from the panel, moderated by Lina Rusch, Editorial Director Tagesspiegel Background Digitalisation & AI: 🎙 Dr. Rasmus Rothe, Founder & GP of Merantix, pointed out the need for clarity in the AI Act to avoid slowing down processes: "Many aspects of the AI Act are still unclear and slow down processes. We need to provide clarity as quickly as possible." 🎙 Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Federal Minister of Education & Research, stressed the need for international cooperation in AI and the efficient implementation of AI regulations: "We need to consider where our strengths lie and how we can combine them to achieve successful AI regulation and risk assessment." 🎙 Franziska Weindauer, CEO of TÜV AI.Lab, highlighted the collaborative spirit necessary for achieving our goals: "We aim to build an ecosystem for Trustworthy AI where startups and companies can develop their AI competencies and jointly tackle the AI Act challenge – something we can be proud of in the end." 🎙 Dr. Michael Fübi, CEO of TÜV Rheinland Group, emphasised the balance needed between research and application in AI: "How many research institutes do we need for Trustworthy AI? Hopefully not too many, as I hope most resources will go into development and application, with some of us ensuring the necessary conditions are met to help developers build safe and trustworthy products." The event was organised by TÜV AI.Lab together with the TÜV-Verband, represented by CEO Joachim Bühler, among others. Reflections on Sam Altman's Talk at Italian Tech Week 2024 I had the privilege of attending Sam Altman's talk at the Italian Tech Week 2024 in Turin, and it was an experience that left a lasting impression. As the co-founder and CEO of OpenAI, Sam's insights into the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) were both enlightening and thought-provoking. During his conversation, Sam delved into several key topics, including the potential for AI to revolutionize various industries and his vision for making AI accessible to everyone. He also addressed recent speculations about OpenAI, emphasizing the company's continuous reflection on improvement while cautioning against media speculations. What struck me most was Sam's ability to maintain the audience's attention throughout the conversation. His engagement and openness, even when discussing complex and sometimes contentious topics, were remarkable. The event was a testament to the power of dialogue between brilliant minds and the potential for such interactions to shape our understanding of the future. Attending Italian Tech Week 2024 and hearing Sam Altman's thoughts has reinforced my belief in the transformative potential of AI. It was great to be at this EU funded workshop. I was part of the REMARKABLE project where we are seekinf to bridge the technological gap between urban and rural areas. As the Business one among the techies, my role has been to evaluate the market readiness of the technologies and ensuring they remain customer-centric. Great to be part of a project that will have a direct positive impact on Africa. Technology transfer will definitely be the next step once the right solutions have been achieved. #collaboration #globalisation
