Tomorrow, on 12 March, MEPs will vote in plenary session on the proposed amendments to the #WeightsAndDimensionsDirective (#WDD). A number of associations from the rail sector and beyond have sent a joint letter to MEPs expressing their concerns if the current text is adopted and without further amendments. In these circumstances, this text would mean: - More CO2 emissions - Bigger trucks on European roads - serious risk of reverse modal shift from rail back to road - Increasing maintenance cost of road infrastructure - Serious concerns on road safety. Just cannot imagine how one may postulate EU #railfreight to grow and at the same time promote crossborder giga-trucks 🚛🚛🚛 propelled by combustion engines. Railway industry says NO ⛔ to current wording of #WeightAndDimensionsDirective. #ReverseModalShift #RoadSafety #GreenDealAtRisk ERFA-European Rail Freight Association Związek Niezależnych Przewoźników Kolejowych CER (Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies) UNIFE | The European Rail Supply Industry Association

#DAC can become an option only for new wagons in reasonable perspective, i.e. 2035 (similar to ban on diesel csrs production). We express strong objection when it comes to broad, obligatory retrofit of old wagons, as tjis can decrease competitiveness of #railfreight. Let's prioritise and first focus on ERTMS. #TACnotDAC #VoiceOfReasonDAC #VORDAC
