Great insights yesterday at the eighth Aalto University alumni strategy circle after-work event on outbound open innovation, corporate venturing and deeptech spin-offs. Thanks to our panelists: Wim Vanhaverbeke, Lotta Partanen, Tarun Sharma and Inka Mero! Here just a few issues for corporates, research organizations and investors to consider to successfully get new businesses and ventures off the ground ▫ It's an ecosystem challenge: don't only think about customers but also complementors and partners as well as platforms to plug into ▫ Talent and teams matter: get the right people into the venture, especially consider the role and experience of the commercial people, and consider the role of the scientists and inventors in the venture ▫ Carefully consider ownership: make sure the spin-off is investable by external investors, ownership rewards actual contribution to building the business, and the key people own a large enough share Thanks to Markku Maula for organizing and running the event!
