Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Patrick O'Donovan TD launched the Irish Medtech Skillnet’s Future Skills report for the Medtech sector at Thomond Park. He said, "Having the right skills is crucial and this report underscores that the most pressing skills required by the sector are influenced by significant economic trends". Speaking at the launch, Paul Healy, Chief Executive, Skillnet Ireland said, "The report paints a comprehensive picture of the current and future talent profile of the Irish medtech sector and is based on a deep industry analysis that encompasses digitalisation, data analytics, and automation as well as skills for sustainability and climate action. We see demand for these skill types increasing in medtech and across other industry sectors too. Through our 70 Skillnet Ireland Business Networks and National Initiatives, Skillnet Ireland is dedicated to bringing leading-edge and innovative upskilling programmes to advance talent in these critical areas”. Irish Medtech Skillnet's mission is to further Ireland’s position as an emerging global medical technology hub by enhancing the specialised knowledge and skills of the talent base. 86% of young professionals don’t advance in their careers because they can’t keep up with emerging technologies. This is also true for doctors and medical professionals who need to be adept with rising technologies such as AI to enhance patient care. If you are a Young Medical #Doctor in South Asia - we have a very exciting announcement for you. We are launching the Global Governance Initiative Medical Fellows 2024 Program. From Venture Funds to McKinsey to Private Equity to HealthTech startups - many organizations (including GGI's employment partners) are willing to bet on Doctors who bring skills at the intersection of Business, Medicine, Pharma, and Tech. However, doctors typically struggle to pivot largely because of skill deficits in the domain of management and tech. Moreover, leaving a full-time practice coupled with rising #MBA costs becomes a huge challenge. Via GGI Medical #Fellowship - we look forward to working with young doctors to up their management and data skills. If Doctors can tie the world of medicine with technology/finance/psychology - they will not only move into leadership roles within their organizations but will also be able to build and lead medical technology ventures for emerging markets. What an honour to be featured by EIT Health explaining and giving advices on How can Academic Innovators bridge the “Valley of Death”? The Deep Tech Venture Builder Program (DTVB) during the co-creation sessions allowed us to structure the options to reduce the gaps in the process of building successful health care startups. It is necessary to understand that most of the entrepreneurs come from the academic research background with a science based experiments and composed by technical teams, so they need business support and orientation. In an era where healthcare access is more critical than ever, students passionate about #HealthcareInnovation are invited to participate in a unique two-day hackathon focused on addressing one of the most pressing global issues: healthcare access for refugees and migrants. This event, organized by FreshBlood HealthTech, HIVE Innovation and Multilingualism in mental health care to migrants, will take place on October 25-26, 2024, at Str. Avram Iancu 13, First Floor, Cluj-Napoca. Students from various academic backgrounds will collaborate, brainstorm, and prototype innovative solutions to improve healthcare services for displaced communities facing severe health challenges. Participants will work in teams under the guidance of experienced mentors, including healthcare professionals and experts in migrant health. These mentors will offer valuable insights and feedback, ensuring that the solutions developed are innovative and grounded in real-world applicability. This hackathon is part of the larger i-Days initiative, promoting health innovation among European university students. Through one- and two-day programs, students are introduced to practical health innovation tools and encouraged to develop solutions to real-world health challenges. The i-Days are supported by EIT Health, a leading European health initiative to foster innovation and improve healthcare delivery. The winning team of each i-Day will move on to the Winners’ Event. This exciting final competition brings together the brightest student innovators from across Europe to showcase their solutions.
