ALTERNATIVE ENERGY & EV NEWS: THE HIGHWAY WHERE TRUCKS WORK LIKE ELECTRIC TRAINS The project “Field trial eHighway on the BAB A1 in Schleswig-Holstein (FESH)” is a model trial for practical testing of the infrastructure with overhead hybrid trucks (OH trucks) as a possible technology for climate-neutral road freight transport. The German state of Schleswig-Holstein says it will pioneer a 6km stretch of electronic highway or eHighway test projects: overhead catenary wires, where electric trucks with pantographs can pull power directly from the grid. "The Wolmaransstad site is the first in a R2.3-billion plan to build off-grid charging stations – which use no Eskom- or grid-supplied electricity – every 150km along South Africa’s national roads. The sites, offering a mix of fast DC (aimed at EVs) and slower AC (for plug-in hybrids) charging points, can supply up to 480kW of electricity to vehicles that support this. Like the first site in Wolmaransstad, each station will consist of a field of solar panels, a covered forecourt, and a coffee shop or farm stall where drivers can relax while they wait (typically no more than 25 minutes on the DC chargers)." ⚡ We've delivered the first next-generation Enviro400EV to Stagecoach Bus, the first of our new electric buses for a customer in the United Kingdom! 55 of these zero-emission double deckers will electrify Stagecoach's city services in Oxford over the coming months in an initiative supported by UK Government funding. They will be driving value through efficiency with class-leading energy consumption – the Enviro400EV has recently been confirmed as the most efficient battery-electric double decker currently available in the market with a theoretical energy consumption of just 0.67kWh/km over the Zemo Partnership's UK Bus Cycle – as well as through their future-proof battery system which is designed to last a 20-year life of a double deck bus in provincial operation with just one change of batteries. We've achieved this benchmark result by combining the heavy-duty version of the Voith Turbo Electrical Drive System with a future-proof battery system from Impact Clean Power Technology S.A. storing 472kWh of energy. #LeadingtheZEvolution
