The Youth Conference in Sinjhoro, Sanghar, organized under the EU-funded Power to Youth Project, was a powerful reminder of the immense potential within our rural youth. As an organizer and speaker, I witnessed firsthand how ICT has become a game-changer, opening doors to global learning and opportunities that were once out of reach. Hearing stories of young individuals from rural areas who have harnessed the power of technology to overcome challenges and pursue advancement was both inspiring and motivating. These stories remind us that talent is universal, but opportunities often are not. It’s time we engage academia, students, and community leaders to spread awareness about ICT's benefits, challenges, and responsible use. EMPOWERVATE: EMPOWERING BEYOND THE COMPETITION . At Empowervate, the Youth Citizens Action Programme (YCAP) is not just an annual competition—it’s a platform for sustainable growth, resilience, and empowerment. A prime example is High 5, a side project initiated by Rose Moerane, one of our dedicated National Support Team Managers. . Rose recognised the potential in schools that didn’t advance to the finals but were still passionate about driving change. High 5 brings these learners together at schools in Hebron, North West, where they engage with YCAP’s Toolkit in a practical, hands-on approach. The club focuses on developing crucial skills such as self-esteem, confidence, problem-solving, and language proficiency while encouraging learners to uphold strong values and conduct. . The impact? Students who were previously underperforming are now passing their classes, showing that empowerment extends far beyond competition results—it’s about personal transformation and sustained growth. What’s remarkable is that High 5 is entirely volunteer-driven, fueled by Rose’s unwavering commitment to the mission and vision of YCAP. Her initiative ensures that YCAP’s reach extends further, creating lasting change in the lives of learners who are now more equipped to succeed. . #SheCodes In this series, we turn the spotlight on extraordinary women contributors from the Dedicated Mentoring Program (DMP) 2023 👩💻 Ft. Rimsha Aiman for her stellar contributions to the program! As part of her project, Rimsha contributed to DIKSHA’s Sunbird ED - a platform that is used to deploy scale-ready solutions in the area of learning, capacity building, and #professionaldevelopment. Her project was to implement auto-translation of the content into local languages. To achieve this, Rimsha developed a plugin that would enable people to input text via typing and using BHASHINI’s API, the user would be able to see the translated text in the selected local language. Rimsha’s efforts not only helped in bridging language barriers but also paved the way for accessibility and inclusivity in learning.
