I had the pleasure of discussing the intersection between strategy and marketing with the esteemed Marc Emmer on StrategyCast. Our conversation delved into the crucial role sales and marketing play in shaping and executing strategies for business success. Key takeaways from our discussion include: Collaborative Strategy Formation: Involving sales and marketing in strategy formation is crucial to avoid the cardinal sin of punting execution to others. Working groups should prepare data and information before strategy meetings and champion the initiatives arising from them. The Intersection of AI and Strategy: The democratization of AI is reshaping business strategies. Companies are recombining tools and products in new ways, and there is potential for significant shifts, such as toward mobility as a service. Integrating AI into marketing efforts can enhance data analysis and testing, but human intellect and context are essential for informed decision-making. Personalization and Differentiation: Personalization is crucial for marketing success. Startups should focus on a few unique attributes and target underserved segments before aiming for a complete product or solution. Additionally, understanding market and segment growth can help navigate competition and commoditization. AI won’t replace marketers. But ignoring AI will limit your growth. Here’s why: AI can predict customer behavior and help you stay ahead of the competition. Here’s how to fix it: First, use AI to analyze past data and forecast trends. AI can identify patterns and predict what your customers will need next. For example, Netflix uses AI to predict content recommendations, keeping users engaged. Next, automate personalized marketing campaigns based on predictions. AI can create tailored messages for customers before they even realize their needs. Amazon’s AI-powered recommendations drive repeat purchases by anticipating customer preferences. Finally, adjust your strategies in real time. AI helps you test and tweak your campaigns instantly for maximum effectiveness. Spotify uses AI to fine-tune its playlist suggestions, keeping listeners hooked longer. Ready to leverage AI? Predictive marketing is your key to future-proofing your strategy. P.S. Are your marketing strategies AI-powered? Yes or No? #Leadership #Sales #Marketing

Yesterday, we announced Prescient AI raised a $10M Series A round, led by Headline, CEAS Investments, and continued support from Blumberg Capital & focal. Most importantly, this is not a story about instant product-market fit. Michael True / Cody Greco started Prescient AI ~4 years ago in the 🎵 space, building unique AI models to measure and predict the optimal media mix to generate buzz for Spotify streams. When 🍎 introduced the vaunted iOS 14 update, the team realized that the TAM to accurately predict optimal media spend in the absence of rich pixel data, combined with the accessibility of real-time first-party data feeds, made it compelling to extend their models to eComm businesses. FY2023 marked the culmination of the R&D efforts where Prescient grew 30x and signed on brands such as HexClad Cookware, GOOD AMERICAN, and Cozy Earth. There are a lot of hard problems facing eComm operators post the 2021 golden era (and many ways Prescient solves for these pain points). *Dealing with multiple streams of siloed data is hard (unified view of sales and marketing efforts). *Understanding the saturation points of campaigns on Meta, Google, TikTok, and non-click based channels like CTV is hard (automated Media Mix Optimizer updated daily on a campaign level). *Measuring omni-channel marketing performance is hard (probabilistic models trained on first party data that measure media halo effects across DTC AND Amazon) *Educating operators to use a new workflow and trust a new tool outside of pixels and MTA - and let's face it, spreadsheets - to make spend decisions is hard (intuitive UI/UX and best-in-class CS). But the main reason I joined the Prescient AI team is that we all enjoy tackling these hard problems as we can see a future where customers can scale spend confidently and profitability by leveraging our next-gen Marketing Mix Models. I want to give an extra shoutout to Taylor Brandt who wrote a succinct yet compelling thesis on why Headline co-led this recent round. The link to Taylor's piece and our news release can be found in the comments below. And to any customers, partners, investors, friends who want to learn more about the power of predictive AI models, our lines are open.
