Looking forward to discover what opportunities this tool will come to provide for adult education organisations to better engage diverse learners! #LearningForAll #ErasmusPlus #InclusiveEducation #AdultLearning #DiversityAndInclusion #LifelongLearning #OutreachToolkit
On the 20th of May, the Learning for All project partnership convened for a workshop, where they brainstormed the approach for developing the Community Outreach Toolkit 🛠️. This tool aims to help adult education centers effectively engage diverse learners. They discussed key indicators and research methodologies to guide the project output development. Next, over the summer, partners will each conduct focus groups in their respective countries with migrant, refugee, and socially excluded learners to gather their experiences and refine the toolkit 🌍. ⚖ Together with Migrant Children, Public Law Project and Garden Court Chambers have been awarded a Strategic Legal Fund (SLF) grant to look at the issue of delays in access to education for school-age children in asylum support accommodation (initial, contingency and dispersal). 📉 Based on our own casework data, we are worried that there might be a wider trend of children in asylum support accommodation who face significant delays to accessing school places (primary and secondary). ✏ This survey is to gather data from organisations supporting asylum-seeking children in order to capture their experiences of delays accessing school places so we can further explore the issue. 👀 This project will take a closer look at: 1. The experiences of organisations who advocate for asylum seeking children. 2. The experiences of children and the impact of delays starting school on their wellbeing and development. 3. The trend of education delays and school place availability in the context of NASS accommodation. 🙏 Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey

Why I love working for ICF? We work on things that matter!! In this article, my ICF colleague shares how nearly 222M children worldwide have had their schooling negatively impacted or stopped amidst local political and social conflict. The EU believes that education is a fundamental right and must not be interrupted, no matter how serious the crisis. ICF and partners developed and co-produced a campaign called “Education No Matter What.” Read more https://bit.ly/4d17hZX #ThisIsICF

🎓🕊️ On the International Day to Protect Education from Attack, SI Chaguanas stands in solidarity with students whose right to education is disrupted by armed conflicts. "Education is not only a basic human right in itself — it’s essential to the fulfilment of all human rights," reminds UN Secretary-General António Guterres. In war zones, schools and students should be safe, but all too often, education is silenced by violence. The devastating impact on children, teachers and communities can last a lifetime, affecting vulnerable groups like girls, migrants, refugees and people with disabilities the most. We must continue to protect and uphold the right to education, ensuring safe learning environments that empower future generations to overcome crises and build a more sustainable, peaceful world. 📚 Source: UN.org #ProtectEducationFromAttack #RightToEducation #SafeSchools #EmpowerThroughEducation #PeaceForAll #EducationInCrisis #Soroptimist #soroptimistgbi #soroptimistinternational #soroptimistchaguanas #Soroptimists

In 2023, our team at the Global Human Rights Group conducted research for the Geneva Global Hub for Education in Emergencies (EiE Hub) that showed the #UN #humanrights mechanisms rarely mention or address #EiE in their work - despite the fact that it is a vital part of the #righttoeducation for millions of people, particularly #children and #youngpeople in #armedconflict, those affected by #climatechange, people on the move or facing #displacement, and those impacted by #globalhealth crises. It is hoped these Human Rights Facts Sheets, which we produced for the EiE Hub and which were launched this week, will help close that gap. They are tailored for the UN #TreatyBodies, #SpecialProcedures, and #UniversalPeriodicReview and designed to help these bodies understand the depth and breadth of issues that arise when considering education in emergencies and guide them on how to produce recommendations and outputs that better address these issues. We've loved working with the EiE Hub secretariat and Members, and are pleased to be embarking on our next project with them -- producing an #AdvocacyStrategy and Action Plan for engaging with the UN human rights mechanisms to leverage opportunities for enhancing the focus on EiE. With a world in crisis, this work could not be more pressing. With armed conflicts in places like Palestine and Ukraine preventing greater numbers of children from accessing education every day, and the threat of climate change disruptions growing, the threat of new global pandemics always on the horizon, and millions of people being displaced from their homes and schools every year, it is vital we strengthen the ways in which we protect and monitor education across all types of emergencies. We are very pleased to announce the launch of the UN Human Rights Mechanisms Facts Sheets we produced for the Geneva Global Hub for Education in Emergencies (EiE Hub)! The Global Human Rights Group was contracted by the #EiEHub to produce 3 facts sheets on #EducationInEmergencies (#EiE): one each tailored for the #UN #TreatyBodies committee members, for #UNSpecialProcedures mandate holders, and for diplomats participating in the #UniversalPeriodicReview (#UPR). These facts sheets address the importance of including EiE in the work of these mechanisms, how to incorporate EiE considerations, and how to draft recommendations on EiE. They are a practical guide to ensure more attention is paid to EiE by UN mandate-holders and by the #Geneva diplomatic community, and will also help #civilsociety and #NGOs in their #advocacy efforts. The goal is to enhance the consideration of EiE in recommendations and resolutions, strengthening implementation globally. EiE helps children and youth to realise their #righttoeducation, which is fundamental to the full realisation of all #humanrights. Yet EiE is severely under-prioritised and underfunded. In 2023, we conducted research for the EiE Hub that showed the UN human rights mechanisms rarely mention EiE in their work. It is hoped these Facts Sheets will help close that gap. We are delighted to have worked on this project for the Geneva Global Hub for Education in Emergencies, a coalition of like-minded governments, UN agencies, NGOs, and international experts, who came together to address the under-prioritisation and underfunding of education in emergencies. The EiE Hub members have formed a strong alliance to step up visibility, political and operational commitment, and funding for EiE. Their engagement is crucial, and we look forward to continuing this meaningful work together! https://lnkd.in/gfMchJf7

During the launch of the Accelerating Action for Eliminating Child Labour and Forced Labour (AECFL) Project, Tau Senyane highlighted the critical role of education in breaking the cycle of child labor. Community leaders must be at the forefront of this effort, supported by government initiatives that provide consistent educational opportunities for children. Together, we can ensure a brighter, safer future for the next generation. #EndChildLabour #EducationMatters #ChildProtection #SocialImpact World Vision World Vision Southern Africa European Union in Lesotho

Sanctuary is more than just a label. Here’s what you need to know today: 1️⃣ Actions Speak Louder Than Words: Whether a school calls itself a “sanctuary” or not, it’s all about what they actually do to protect and support immigrant students. 2️⃣ Different Words, Same Vibe: Schools across the country use different terms to show their support—but the mission is the same: creating a protective and empowering environment for immigrant youth and their families. 3️⃣ Why “Sanctuary” Hits Different: Using the word “sanctuary” can make a strong statement and connect to a bigger movement supporting immigrant communities. 4️⃣ Legal Stuff: Some schools might shy away from “sanctuary” because of legal fears, but experts say it’s hard for the government to punish schools just for the label. Check out the Understanding the Sanctuary School and Safe Zone Movement: A Quick Guide for Educators from Immigrants Rising for More Guidance https://lnkd.in/gZsaJETn Bottom line: The word matters, but the actions behind it matter way more. #SanctuarySchool #SanctuarySchools #Educationforall #ImmigrantYouth
