It led us to present at the Energy Tech Summit in Warsaw last year, which also generated interest and engagement with colleagues and prospective partners in Europe. Are big #events still worth it for #founders? Slush, Web Summit, and a parade of others—major tech conferences have been a staple for startup founders to network, pitch, and learn. But a great Sifted article arrived in my inbox and got me thinking (link in the comments)... It was interesting to that that many are questioning their value. Massive crowds, endless panels, and overstimulating schedules are leaving some founders drained and second-guessing their ROI. As a growth leader at at an agency ( Storm Consultancy if you must know... ) I see this reflecting a larger dilemma for founders: the balance between visibility and value. Big conferences promise exposure, but do they deliver the depth startups need to forge real connections? Are smaller, curated events the better bet—or is it time to reimagine what these gatherings look like? Personally, I find big events actually work best if I fundamentally accept they're usually a lottery. But I'd like to know how others experience these big conferences (e.g. Slush, Web Summit). Are they helpful forums for us to come together with peers, or do we need to reshape these events to prioritise real outcomes—valuable relationships, actionable insights, and time well spent? Is there a formula for optimising? Are you finding big conferences worth it, or are you turning to smaller, more focused formats? Let’s share what’s working. #StartupLife #FounderFocus #AgencyLeaders #ConferenceFatigue #NetworkingTips #GrowthStrategy

Hectic week that was worth tons of inspiration. #nyctechweek It was a pleasure to be a part of NYC Tech Week; I gained so much inspiration, insights, and actual passion to stay on my path. Every panel that I visited left me with some important insights, which I would like to emphasize: 💡 Mobilo morning networking event and Pieter Limburg provided insight on how to stay connected: “Ask extraordinary questions, such as ‘I like your shoes, where did you get them from?’” 💡Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Nasdaq capacity/time to innovation = generative AI. I think this formula explains itself. Jon Jones Kate Jensen Amit Jain Jeff Thomas Marjorie Janiewicz Angie Ruan It was my first time at Nasdaq's buildings; I felt truly inspired and motivated that one day I’ll ring that bell. 💡An Investor, a Founder, and a Lawyer Finta a great panel that helped me understand what to focus on and what not. David Silverstein Rachel ten Brink Jack Sousa In order to stand out, I need to know my numbers, my USP, and keep consistent communication with people, investors that might be interested. 💡Founders Breakfast at NY #TechWeek. Zeal Capital Partners Anthemis Group L'ATTITUDE VENTURES First of all, great breakfast! Great quality people that do share similar values and inspiration. One insight I got from the event is to have an MVP version and show that you truly care about the product; the investors will see you. 💡AI Sales in B2B Saad Bin Shafiq Kate Chichikashvili Great chai and dessert! I think it was my favorite snacking time throughout the tech week hehe! However, it was one of the most inspiring and interesting panels I have been to. Matt Shenker Dan Hurwitz Sabba Nazhand Personal brand is the key; human touch will always be there to connect with humans, and AI agents are there to help you but not to replace you. 💡Humanity, AI, and the New Role of Startups, stunning views from the Wells Fargo office! I learned how to avoid risks and still stay in touch with human sense. Sophy Li Richard Mensah Paul Thorogood Shreya A. Benjamin Friedman 💡Tech Palooza, okay Mr. Andrew Yeung you did it fantastically! So many interesting people in one place and not just chatting but actually have entertainment that keeps people away from selling themselves. To me, it was an extravaganza! One insight is always smile and come up to me, they are there for the same reason as you are! One insight from me: Never underestimate yourself; always think that you do good, even if you have a bunch of successful people around you in one room. You’re where you need to be at the moment #techweek #founders #vcs #investing #b2b2c #seed
