Had some robust conversations with Richard Searle with Fortanix, Kevin Bocek with Venafi, Min-Hank Ho with Baffle, Inc., Michael Osborne with IBM, and Duncan Jones with Quantinuum about the post-quantum cryptography (PQC) future of #cybersecurity. I asked them speak to something organizations might face when #quantum computers become available--and eventually get into bad actors hands: Will it be open season on compute systems that don't have quantum-caliber defenses? Complex answers, not enough space in one story to share everything we discussed. May stitch some of the interviews into a podcast session follow-up this week. If bad actors get their hands on quantum computers, could the market plunge off a cliff into vulnerabilities worse than #Heartbleed?

The public sector is responsible for huge amounts of sensitive and personal data, from voting registers, to school records, which needs to be protected for long periods of time. As a result, governments need cybersecurity solutions that can remain effective as new cyber threats develop. Today's encryption methods, such as public key encryption (PKE), are set to become insufficient in keeping sensitive information safe as quantum computing continues to advance. This is why we've developed a quantum-safe solution for the public sector. Learn how our Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology is securing systems that allow governments and other public sector organisations to protect their data from quantum-powered attacks: https://lnkd.in/eHVJGs-v #Quantum #Government #PublicSector #Cybersecurity

Q-Day—the day when a cryptographically relevant quantum computer can break most forms of modern encryption—is fast approaching, leaving the complex systems our societies rely on vulnerable to a new wave of cyberattacks. While estimates just a few years old suggested that a quantum computer capable of running Shor’s Algorithm would not be operationally available until 2029 or later, more recent research to produce fault-tolerant #quantum systems, such as the 48 qubit system produced by a team at Harvard, combined with news of PsiQuantum’s million qubit system slated to come online in 2027, suggest that the #QDay horizon, however secretively or publicly it plays out, is coming faster than most anticipated… #news #helpnetsecurity #cybersecurity #infosec #informationsecurity #quantumencryption #quantumcomputer #NIST https://lnkd.in/g3n8StvY
