ℹ️ The final component of the #ZEELINK project, the compressor station in Legden, Germany, went into operation. Compressor stations are essential for the transportation of gases over long distances. 🔊 “With ZEELINK, OGE and Thyssengas have created an elementary energy connection. It ensures that the energy is in the right place at the right time - natural gas today and hydrogen in the future,” said Dr. Thomas Hüwener, CEO of OGE. Dr. Thomas Gößmann, CEO of Thyssengas, added: “Modern and future-oriented plants like the one here in Legden still fascinate me as an engineer even after so many years in the industry. Innovation is part of FNB's business model. We are talking about an ultra-modern pipeline system that is absolutely future-proof. This reliability is an essential component of an increasingly green gas infrastructure and therefore also the backbone of the energy transition.” Image from left to right (source ZEELINK): Dr. Thomas Gößmann (Thyssengas), NRW Minister Nathanael Liminski and Dr. Thomas Hüwener (OGE) at the commissioning ceremony for the Legden compressor station. #Tube #EnergyTransition #Pipelines #Hydrogen #Engineering

We are looking forward to collaborating with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) on the latest call for proposals for its Grid Innovation Fund. The fund will invest $9.5 million to support projects that advance electrification and demand management as part of Ontario’s ongoing energy transformation. We will serve as a regulatory partner, where proponents can seek guidance from our Innovation Sandbox in support of their projects https://lnkd.in/gn8eaa6 This year the fund will focus on two streams: electric vehicles and space and water heating and cooling. Anticipating increased demand on Ontario’s electricity system from EVs and heat pumps, successful projects would enable these technologies to contribute to grid flexibility, reliability and affordability. The application window for the IESO’s Grid Innovation Fund will open in May. For more information, see: https://lnkd.in/eskWGfma
With a growing number of Ontarians purchasing electric vehicles and heat pumps, the IESO’s Grid Innovation Fund (GIF) is releasing a call for proposals to leverage these technologies to contribute to grid flexibility, reliability, affordability and sustainability. This year’s call will provide up to $9.5 million for proposals that will test new opportunities to demonstrate how aggregations of electric vehicles and weather-sensitive controllable loads, such as heat pumps with thermal storage, can be leveraged to provide grid services and demand side management at both the local and provincial levels. In collaboration with the IESO, the Ontario Energy Board will serve as a regulatory partner, where proponents can concurrently seek guidance from its Innovation Sandbox. The application window will open in May. More information about this year’s call for proposals can be found on the IESO’s website. https://lnkd.in/gkKZa2tB

To energy sector innovators: the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO)'s 2024 Grid Innovation Fund (GIF) Proposal Guideline has been posted. This year, the GIF theme is Electrification and Demand Management with a focus on the transportation sector (electric vehicles) and heating/cooling sector. As a result of the energy transition, the electricity system is seeing an increase in demand and changes to electricity usage patterns. With these changes comes an opportunity to explore how the electrification of these two sectors can help support the grid. The IESO is seeking projects that will demonstrate how EVs and weather-sensitive controllable loads can provide system flexibility and be integrated to support the distribution network and bulk electricity system. We are pleased that the Ontario Energy Board’s Innovation Sandbox will play an important role as regulatory partner for this call, providing regulatory guidance to proponents. A Stakeholder Engagement session will be held on April 23, 2024, and proposals will be accepted between May 27 – July 21, 2024. Further information can be found here: https://lnkd.in/dn2mQAAb
