LINCCS SP1 – Compact, low OPEX offshore CO₂ capture – has officially wrapped up! 🎉 Congratulations to all our partners on a successful 3-year collaboration. Here are two headline outcomes from SP1: 👉 Unmanned offshore power hub with CCS (design) – Preliminary design of a 130 MW Offshore Power Hub. This floating hub will be unmanned (cheaper and safer), use energy efficient combined cycle, and capture 500,000 tonnes of CO2 per year while powering offshore platforms. 👉 New economic tool – SINTEF and Equinor developed a new tool that can provide a detailed economic picture to find out which green solutions are implementable – and what needs to be developed to make them viable. ℹ️ The final component of the #ZEELINK project, the compressor station in Legden, Germany, went into operation. Compressor stations are essential for the transportation of gases over long distances. 🔊 “With ZEELINK, OGE and Thyssengas have created an elementary energy connection. It ensures that the energy is in the right place at the right time - natural gas today and hydrogen in the future,” said Dr. Thomas Hüwener, CEO of OGE. Dr. Thomas Gößmann, CEO of Thyssengas, added: “Modern and future-oriented plants like the one here in Legden still fascinate me as an engineer even after so many years in the industry. Lots of people will say they’ve had their day, a waste of time, a day off the road (with travelling) for the ASM/BDM etc. Yes there are good and bad days in terms of the customer interaction, but it isn’t all about that. It’s demonstrating to the branch that we are interested in their business and that we are prepared to put the time in required to build relationships with branch teams. These days are particularly important for new ASM’s who may be new to the role and new to a territory. The combination of low weight with high force, using advanced control software, is a real time-saver for the customer. The system can be used both in a standing and hanging position. Several improvements have been made for the new series, such as the nominal pulling force and the hard-anodized capstan head, which is more resistant to corrosion.
