Today is National Animal Rights Day! Do we think education can lead to a real shift in the way our culture views and treats animals? Absolutely. Education is one of the key aspects in creating change as it invites us to explore the inconsistencies in our treatment of nonhuman animals, develop techniques for learning and teaching about complex animal issues in a constructive manner that invites dialogue and positive solutions, and identify solutionary innovations that protect animals, nature, and humans. There is hope of creating a better world! 🤔🤷🏽♀️ "Why don't they just release them back into the wild?" – Do you ever hear this kind of comment from your friends? Animal protection and husbandry professionals have many considerations to make to understand if release is the best option for an individual. Examples include difficulty meeting international guidelines, how to publish results with small sample sizes, government considerations, human-focused considerations, and funding. Both NGOs and the public alike will find that this deep-dive double session can help answer many of these important questions. Equip yourself with the knowledge that you can use in your daily work or share with your circle. 🐒🦜 Watch here: https://lnkd.in/e6_2wJEV #asia #animals #asiaforanimals #rescue #wildlife #rehabilitate #release #webinar

🗽🇺🇸🦅 Happy #AnimalFreedomDay! Why does Project Animal Freedom celebrate freedom for all animals on the 4th of July? Because freedom is an American ideal, and all animals deserve to live safe, happy, and free. Yet billions of animals live some of the most unfree lives imaginable. That is why we not only celebrate the cause for animal freedom, but also commemorate the billions of animals currently trapped in factory farms, animal labs, and other animal-abusing facilities. Please join us in celebrating Animal Freedom Day by: 1. hosting a vegan BBQ 2. protesting 4th of July cruelty 3. refraining from shooting off fireworks All people are born with certain inalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is our duty to ensure that these rights are extended to all animals, because justice for all means justice for animals. Their freedom is our freedom. Now let’s fight for it!

While non-animal research methods are crucial, the right policy and legislation is also needed. Want an example? The Animal Welfare (Sentience) Act 2022. It was hailed as a significant step forward in recognising, in law, the sentience of animals, including invertebrate animals like lobsters, crabs, and octopus, and their capacity to suffer. Despite their sentience being recognised, the Act has no impact on existing legislation, including the use of animals in scientific research. This means that other than cephalopod species, such as octopus, who are already protected by animal research legislation, invertebrates currently have no greater legal protection in any sense. This is why rigorous policy is essential in animal research. Read more about it in our Policy Approach: https://lnkd.in/eXHGharu #ALawDay #AnimalLawDay #AnimalResearch

Two days ago, I was tormented for standing up for a voiceless bird—A creature with no voice, and apparently, no rights In an age when knowledge is just a click away, it’s astounding that animal exploitation is still defended by some of the educated and privileged. Recently, I confronted a so-called astrologer profiting off a parrot caged in unsanitary, miserable conditions, claiming the bird could foretell the future. This bird, an intelligent, sentient creature, was reduced to a lifeless tool, squawking in distress from a filthy, cramped cage with rotting food scattered around. Yet, when I raised my voice against this clear abuse, I was the one met with hostility and lectures about “livelihood.” Since when did exploiting and torturing a defenseless animal become an acceptable means to make a living? The shocking part is the indifference of those who ought to know better. While I waited for animal welfare authorities, the fraudster vanished, his supporters justifying his actions under the guise of “tradition” and “belief.” Instead of standing for compassion, they turned the argument on me, shaming me for allegedly endangering someone’s livelihood. How can one defend a practice that directly inflicts suffering on an innocent animal and yet proudly call themselves “civilized” or “educated”? It’s no wonder that wildlife protections remain flimsy when standing up for what’s right invites personal attacks. Animal rights aren’t a luxury or privilege; they’re an ethical standard that should be non-negotiable. At a time when we’re discussing justice, equality, and protection for all, the fact that birds and animals are still caged, tortured, and exploited in the name of profit speaks volumes about our society. No one’s asking everyone to become activists, but if someone does stand up for these beings, the least we can do is respect their efforts rather than silence them with hypocritical arguments. #peta #animalrights #peopleforanimals #animalabuse #wildlifeabuse

𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 – 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture presented today the new federal funding program for the promotion of animal husbandry that is also environmentally friendly. The event included a demonstration of the ‘Stable of the Future’ while also addressing concerns from the industry regarding guidelines and requirements. The stable is located at Haus Düsse, one of Germany’s most renowned agricultural institutions in the area of experimental and educational work. The Stable of the Future, corresponding to Husbandry Type 4, aims to test new systems to improve animal welfare and reduce negative environmental impacts. The stable offers more space, management of manure, a roof that can be opened for fresh air, monitoring of animal welfare through cameras and AI, and various areas that allow exercise. We are looking forward to the results of the trials. #OSIEurope #AnimalWelfare #AnimalHusbandry #Sustainability #ReductionofEmissions #HusbandryType4

For International Animal Rights Day, we asked our students the big question: Who’s your favorite animal? The answers were wild (literally)—think cats, penguins, and even the occasional...crab? But here’s the catch: it’s not just about loving animals—it’s about protecting them. 💛 Today, we stand up for their rights, their habitats, and their futures. #AnimalRightsDay #animallovers #animalrights #internationalschool #athensprivateschool #privateschool #primaryschool #secondaryschool

Today is World Day for Animals in Laboratories, when we remember around 100 million sentient animals who are used in research and testing around the world every year. The RSPCA Animals in Science Department is dedicated to achieving a global commitment to phasing out animal use and replacing it with Non Animal Methodologies - our principal goal. In the meantime, we work to promote reductions in animal numbers and suffering, and better lab animal welfare. Our three main areas of work are: Phasing out lab animals - we call on governments and all those involved around the world to agree that phasing out animal use in science is a desirable goal, and to show leadership and commitment to achieving this with clear plans. Find out more in this short video: https://lnkd.in/egKg4D8Y Ending ‘severe’ suffering for animals in science - any level of suffering is a concern, but severe suffering is the greatest concern of all. We work with the support of the scientific community to reduce and avoid severe suffering, as explained in this video: https://lnkd.in/e9jFGaBa Ensuring robust and challenging ethical review around whether, and how, lab animals are used. Our work to empower and support ethics committees, like the UK Animal Welfare and Ethical Review Body (AWERB), makes us unique among animal welfare NGOs. For more information, see our AWERB Directory at: www.rspca.org.uk/awerb We do much more... to promote the 3Rs, Culture of Care and ethical review of animal use - see our web pages to find out more: https://lnkd.in/eBw2qvTJ #WorldDayForAnimalsInLaboratories #WDAIL #3Rs #EthicalReview #CultureOfCare #AWERB #Replacement #NAMs
