The early years education recruitment market has seen significant changes recently, and these shifts are redefining how we connect talented educators with the nurseries and schools that need them most. Nearly every business owner or Nursery Manager has experienced the struggles of finding top-talent educators. 💼 Demand is Higher than Ever With more parents returning to work and families seeking quality childcare, the demand for early-years professionals is at an all-time high. Nurseries and early education settings are expanding, and they need skilled, compassionate individuals to help young children grow and develop. But with high demand comes a competitive market, and it’s a challenge to find those truly exceptional candidates who align with each setting's unique values and culture. 📈 Higher Standards and New Expectations The bar for early years education professionals has never been higher. Nurseries are not only looking for qualifications; they’re also focusing on candidates’ approach to safeguarding, emotional intelligence, and cultural sensitivity. Additionally, educators are expected to stay up-to-date with new methods of fostering social and emotional development in young children, reflecting a shift in prioritising children’s mental well-being alongside academic readiness. 🎓 Candidates are Looking for More Today’s early years professionals are seeking roles that offer more than just a paycheck—they want fulfilling work, development opportunities, and a supportive environment. To attract and retain these individuals, nurseries are rethinking their offerings, focusing on career development pathways, well-being initiatives, and creating workplaces that truly support staff. As recruiters, we play a role in highlighting these benefits and matching candidates to environments where they’ll thrive and grow. 💬 Adapting Our Approach Given these shifts, our approach to recruitment in early years has evolved. We’re investing even more in understanding each client’s values, goals, and team dynamics so we can place candidates who not only meet the technical requirements but also fit the culture. We’re also providing additional support to candidates, from interview preparation to guidance on what to expect in today’s early years settings. 🌟 Together, Shaping the Future of Early Years Education Navigating these market changes isn’t always easy, but it’s rewarding. Each placement brings us closer to creating enriching, nurturing environments where children can flourish. We’re proud to play our part in building the foundations for the next generation. If you’re feeling these changes too, whether you’re a nursery in need of dedicated staff or a professional seeking a meaningful role. Let’s connect. Together, we can help shape the future of early years education in this exciting and evolving market. 📞 02080500007 📧 slowings@earlyyearsagency.com

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Before having children, this question is typically easier to answer as you are able to make career choices without having to consider how juggling childcare around your work will impact your career. 🤱When you have children, sometimes it's hard to think beyond the next day, let alone plan your career! ⚓But it's important to have a rough plan of what you might like your career to look like as a working parent, to ensure that you don't feel like you've drifted from where you didn't realise you wanted to be until it's too late. So how to do this? When working with a client this week, we created a phased plan around personal goals and childcare requirements to help plan a career change. 📅Phase 1 - Important personal goal in one month Nothing changes during this time, which takes the weight off thinking about it. 📆Phase 2 - October 2024 to April 2025 - Son in nursery 3 days a week. Reduce working days to 3 days a week to give 2 days a week to spend with him. 📆Phase 3 - April 2025 to September 2027 - Son in nursery 4 days a week Keep working 3 days a week giving 1 day a week to explore new career. During this time, research and attend courses, with the aim to eventually secure consultancy work. Towards the end of this phase, evaluate how this is going and whether a new career has legs, or whether preference is to increase working hours with employer. 📆Phase 4 - September 2027 - Both children at school Work 5 days a week, school hours only. If you'd like help planning your career alongside your changing childcare commitments, drop us an email hello@thematernitycoach.com #maternitycoaching #parentalleavecoaching #careercoaching #careerplanning #careerchange
