You can make your resume convincing if you: 1. Use 2-3 bullet points per job and 1-2 lines per bullet point 2. Replace jargon with commonly understood terms 3. Use numbers that link your actions to business value. The number of bugs fixed is not a business value, but stability is. 4. Don't write "I" and don't write about yourself in the third person 5. Use active voice. Instead of saying "was responsible for managing a team", say "managed a team". 6. Back up your statements with facts. When you say "complex project", either explain how it was complex (architecture, workload, compliance, ...), or don't say at all. Congrats. Your resume now sounds more convincing! Here's a small but, I believe, impactful thing to not miss on your resume: While technical prowess is crucial, soft skills can set you apart and should be thoughtfully "weaved" into your resume. As a hiring manager, this is something that I consistently look for when reviewing resumes. For example, "Led a cross-functional team to deliver project ahead of schedule." This emphasis on the team being cross-functional implies the communication and coordination involved in such an effort. Another example: "Presented complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, resulting in a 25% increase in project buy-in." This one is great as it shows the ability to sell and persuade others on the value in the technical work being done. Remember, tech companies want well-rounded professionals who can collaborate effectively. Are there other ways in which you have advertised your soft skills in your resume? Data Science, Applied Scientist, ML Engineer and the like #resumetips Format applies to most functions however.
I receive a lot of resume review requests, and while I can't get to them all, I want to share a common tip that can make a huge difference: ➡ Quantify Your Impact – But Frame It Right: 1️⃣ What business problem did you solve? Set the context. 2️⃣ How did you solve it? Briefly outline your approach. 3️⃣ What was the impact? Quantify with metrics whenever possible. Instead of: "Built machine learning models" Try: "Developed a recommendation engine to address low product discovery, increasing user engagement by 15%" Pair those numbers with strong action verbs (developed, analyzed, optimized) to showcase your contributions. Remember, your resume is about showing the value you bring! #resumetips #careeradvice #jobsearch #datascience #problemsolving #communication

Yes, the character of the individual to get the company through a crisis will always outperform any degree, or certification.
Elevating Construction Professionals—Transforming Careers, Optimizing Performance, and Changing Lives | Founder | Speaker | Performance Coach | Workforce Champion | Master Electrician
Who You Are Matters More Than Your Resume. 📝 In construction, we’ve been conditioned to believe that a well-polished resume is the golden ticket to career success. Experience, certifications, big-name projects—those things are important, sure. But let me ask you this: How many “highly qualified” people have you met who couldn’t lead a team or quickly crack under pressure? Here’s the truth no one talks about: Your character, mindset, and ability to lead and treat others, matters far more than what’s listed on that resume. Who you are when things get tough on the job defines your value, not just your credentials. Construction professionals need resilience, grit, empathy and the ability to adapt—qualities no resume can fully capture. Yet, we keep hiring based on bullet points or even age, rather than real-world readiness. Your “time in the industry” isn’t selling anymore, but “who you are” certainly is. Stop hiring resumes. Start hiring leaders. If you agree like and repost, let’s change the narrative. #Disruptor #Construction #Culture #Career

Resumes haven't changed in forever. Here's what I'd look for while hiring today and in the next decade - - Hardest Problem you've worked on (and what you did to solve it) - Indicator of exceptional ability in something (and bullets as proof - each serving as an example of the same) - Indicator of drive outside the call of duty - Indicator of communication and writing skills - could be in any form - blog, tweets, instagram, papers, etc. - Indicator of what matters to you and why through your work (formal/informal) - Coding languages you're proficient in with projects you've done in the same - Proof of ownership - owning a project, task, role. - Proof of working in a team/building a team - List of roles you've served, where, and for how long with 1 line on the most impactful outcome your presence made in that organisation - What you've studied formally (if anything) That's all that matters to get on a call. > College name, grades, religion, gender, ranks, awards, where you're from, etc don't matter. Value add and values matter. > Outcomes in the number of years you've worked >>> total number of years of experience

Cover letter MISTAKES to avoid. 1. Avoid grammatical mistakes. [Use Grammarly or Docs by Google.] Example: ❌ "Im excited to apply for this position" ✅ "I'm excited to apply for this position." 2. Do not showcase yourself as self-centered. Example: ❌ "I am the best candidate because I am a hard worker." ✅ "My dedication resulted in a 15% increase in project completion rates." 3. Do not explain what you did; describe the impacts instead. Example: ❌ "I led a team project." ✅ "I spearheaded a 5-person team, resulting in a product launch ahead of schedule." 4. Present the numeric, if possible. Example: ❌ "I improved customer satisfaction." ✅ "I implemented [X] using [Y], which resulted in an increase of the customer satisfaction scores by 20%." 5. Stick to being truthful; do not fake metrics. Example: ❌ "I single-handedly grew revenue by 500%." ✅ "I contributed to strategies that helped grow revenue by 15%." #softwaredevelopment #interview #softwareengineer

After ditching the colorful template, I thought the solution was to list everything I’d ever done. 💼 If I wrote down all my tasks, I figured something would stick, right? Wrong. 🙃 My resume ended up looking like a novel—too long, too much, and no focus. Here’s the deal: Quality over quantity. Don’t just list tasks; focus on the ones that showcase your skills and impact. Hiring managers don’t have time to read every detail—they want to know what makes you stand out. Trim the fat, focus on your value, and let your achievements shine. Looking to cut the clutter from your resume? Let’s talk! An impactful resume is not about bragging yourself. With all those relevant accomplishments highlighted for the job,... ... It's more of being confident about yourself, than being materialistic. Yes, you highlight about working with multinational companies, like Philips and P&G... ...But in reality, you showcase about how you've generated results for them. So, an impactful resume showcases how you've developed yourself, without depending much on materials or others. It's about what decisions you make for the company to accomplish results for them. ------------------------------------------ It's me, Irtaza. Programmer, Product Manager → now bootstrapping my startup
8moOne more thing: Be specific. Instead of saying "worked on a variety of projects", it's better to talk about one specific project. For example, "developed an e-commerce mobile app".
