In 2024, Europe witnessed an unprecedented number of national elections. While some countries have made steps forward to promote and protect children’s rights, others need to intensify their efforts. This diversity is reflected in the lived realities of children across Europe. With insights from 57 Eurochild members across 31 European countries, we identified recommendations for decision-makers to address children’s needs starting from the realities in which they live. What does advocating for #childrights truly mean? It means monitoring EU funds, laws and initiatives like the #ChildGuarantee. It involves gathering data and recommendations from our members across Europe to drive meaningful change. It means responding to emergencies such as earthquakes, wars, and pandemics and countering anti-child rights movements advocating for better protection of children and civil society in Europe. It means fighting racism and discrimination such as addressing how the #media refers to civilian victims in conflicts, which varies depending on where they are from or their religion. What does it mean to you? https://buff.ly/4dfTfDa

It is worrying that also #JointEmpoymentReport acknowledges that the gap is widening to achieve the EU’s 2030 target of reducing #childpoverty by at least 5 million children. Therefore, European Commission should provide #CountrySpecificRecommendations concerning #children and their rights for each Member State. #EuropeanSemester #socialrights
The European Commission’s 2025 #EuropeanSemester Autumn Package highlights key socio-economic priorities for the year ahead, with a strong focus on tackling #childpoverty and #socialexclusion. While progress has been made, challenges remain in achieving 2030 targets, particularly around #earlychildhood education and #inclusiveeducation. Eurochild calls for a stronger emphasis on #childrights through initiatives like the #EUChildGuarantee to ensure no child is left behind. As the world changes, so do the goals of Indigenous youth reconciliation. If we consider a generous age range of 12-18 to define a "youth," we have 6 total years to serve this population before all their challenges start compounding in adulthood. In Canada, our election cycles are four or five years. This is not conducive to supporting young people through the developmental stage of their lives. Even if you have a priority to serve youth and young adults, even the best developments become outdated quicker than other models because young people are sponges to this rapidly changing world. The only way to get ahead of this is by making proactive commitments that will serve the youth of today AND tomorrow. We need new programs, services, institutions, and organizations that are developed in a way that they grow with the evolving needs of youth. TIME is our most valuable resource, and Frayed Feathers works collaboratively with you to sprint towards reconciliACTION. #FrayedFeathers #Indigenous #IndigneousYouth #YouthReconciliation #Reconciliation #GovernmentofCanada #IndigenousPolicy #Policy #Advocacy

Housing affordability is a top three issue for all age groups, and politicians listening to voters is a top two issue for each. After accounting for other demographic factors, younger voters tended to prioritize crowded neighborhoods, earning enough to pay for non-housing needs, housing affordability, and k-12 education. Older voters prioritized abortion and women’s rights, air quality, partisan politics, and politicians listening to voters. 👨👩👧👦 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/geWJUWxJ

🌟 #VoteForChildren Campaign 🌟 Ahead of the EU elections on 6-9 June, the #VoteForChildren campaign invites EU Election candidates to sign the Child Rights Manifesto and form a new Intergroup on Children's Rights. The goal is to ensure that the future members of the European Parliament prioritise children's rights and needs. The campaign is focused on: ✅ Mainstreaming and protecting children’s rights ✅ Breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality by investing in children ✅ Fostering meaningful, inclusive, and safe participation of children in legal processes ✅ Securing a child-centred EU budget As part of the campaign, the coalition has produced a Child Rights Manifesto. This document outlines concrete measures to address the challenges faced by children, covering areas such as: 📚 Education 🧠 Mental health 🚫 Bullying 🛡️ Prevention of violence And here's why it matters: 📊 1 in 4 children in the EU are at risk of poverty or social exclusion. 🌍 Globally, more than 1 in 6 children are living in a conflict zone. 🏚️ An estimated 5.4 million children around the globe live in harmful institutions, with concerningly high rates in the EU. ✍️ We urge MEPs to sign the Manifesto now and commit to becoming a Child Rights Champion in their next mandate: https://lnkd.in/eQEF2-5X Together, let's stand up for children's rights and ensure their voices are heard! #ChildRightsChampion #ChildRights #EUElections #ChildFriendlyJustice

Mums4Refugees: A Daily Revolution Our fight for justice isn’t something we pull out when things get tough. It’s not some accessory we dust off whenever there’s a crisis in the news. It’s a daily, unbreakable commitment—a revolution we live and breathe, a cause we carry with us everywhere we go. In Australia, we’re painfully aware of how much work there is to do. Access to reproductive rights is still a struggle, with barriers making it harder for women to get the healthcare they need. Our government has reopened offshore detention on Nauru, keeping families in conditions no one should have to endure. There are over 8,000 people stuck in limbo on temporary visas, unable to build a stable life. The housing crisis is so dire it’s forcing women and children to stay in dangerous situations, trapped with their abusers because there’s nowhere else to go. In the Northern Territory, we’re imprisoning children instead of protecting them, and 76 women have been murdered across Australia this year alone. This is the reality we’re facing, and it’s why we can’t stop fighting. We refuse to stay silent. We don’t pledge allegiance to borders or power—we pledge it to compassion, resilience, and standing up for each other. For every family torn apart, every mum fighting to keep her kids safe, every woman afraid in her own home, we say: enough. We’re done accepting systems designed to keep us down. Together, we’re standing against racism, misogyny, and the violence that targets the most vulnerable among us. We won’t sit quietly. We’re here to resist, to disrupt, and to protect. Our promise is simple: we’re fighting for a world that cares, that includes, that shelters. A world where no one’s left behind. Our revolution is powered by courage, compassion, and conviction. Every day, we’re here. Make your voice a daily act of defiance. For every refugee, for every mother, for every child who deserves a safe home. This is our pledge. #Solidarity #DailyRevolution

As the population ages, how prepared is our state and nation to meet their needs? The economy, immigration, abortion and many issues dominate public policy debates, but what about the needs of one of the fastest growing segments of the population? What about their right to live as independently as they can for as long as they can? The percentage of the U.S. population 65 and older continues to increase and will do so for the foreseeable future. The same trend is true for Missouri.
