🌍💻 The Policy Recommendations of the ESMTT project are now available on the EFEE website, with a particular focus on the evolution of teachers’ working time in the context of the green and digital transitions. 🔊These recommendations focus on adapting teachers’ working time to meet the demands of the green and digital transitions in education, and result from extensive discussions with EFEE members and other key stakeholders during three Peer-Learning Activities (PLA). 📚🪴On November 28, EFEE hosted the Final Conference of its Effective School Management in the Twin Transition project (ESMTT). This initiative addresses how the green and digital transitions reshape teachers’ working hours and workload, focusing on equitable solutions that align with the European Green Deal and the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan through: 🔸 Social dialogue to strengthen cooperation and representation. 🔸 Capacity building to address digital and environmental challenges. 🔸 Innovation to optimize teaching practices and working conditions. Some highlights of the Final Conference were: 1️⃣ Research Findings: The ESMTT researcher Fabrice Serodes identified 26 barriers to adopting green and digital technologies, offering groundbreaking tools to balance technology with human-centered teaching. 2️⃣ Policy Recommendations: Stakeholders at local, national, and EU levels emphasized better time management, sustainable teaching methods, and collaboration. EU funding and transnational mobility were recognized as pivotal. 3️⃣ Innovative Practices: - “Jeff the Robot”: A virtual assistant from Belgium easing administrative workloads for teachers. - Kinsale Community College, Ireland: Integrating sustainability with inclusive education. - HAIS, Greece: Solutions for managing after-hours teaching tasks. 4️⃣ Global Collaboration: Attendees exchanged insights on bridging the digital divide, preserving the freedom of knowledge, and integrating sustainability into education. ⏩ What is next? As the project has now come to an end, EFEE will publish the project’s final report and policy recommendations in the coming days. 🤝 This Tuesday, EFEE participated in the European Sectoral Social Dialogue in Education (ESSDE) Working Group on Higher Education & Research on September 24, 2024. Together with our partners at ETUCE-CSEE, we discussed key topics for higher education in Europe including: 🔹 The attractiveness of the teaching profession, focusing on sustainable careers in higher education. 🔹 A joint programme of actions addressing changing trends in working conditions, particularly the effects of the digital transition. 🔹 The implementation of the OiRA risk assessment tool for higher education, in collaboration with EU-OSHA. 🔹 The ESSDE joint projects, including: APRES COVID, LearningSchools and InclEdu4AllNeeds. 🚀 Empowering educators in the digital transition: next generation strategies for teacher professional development Proud to share that, with the support of the European Commission's DG REFORM and the TSI (Technical Support Instrument), a collaborative project between Belgian (Flemish) and Dutch authorities is advancing the digital upskilling of educators! The main CPD providers from both Flanders and the Netherlands attended the kick-off of this project today in Brussels. Their involvement highlights the strong commitment across sectors to innovate teacher professional development and ensure it meets the demands of a digitalised world. Key outcomes will include: 1️⃣ An inventory of innovative digital approaches for teachers' professional development. 2️⃣ A new framework to enhance digital components in CPD for teachers. 3️⃣ Policy and funding adaptations to support these innovations. The Schuman Associates #SkillsCoalition, in collaboration with the Lifelong Learning Platform - European Civil Society for Education and the European Federation of Education Employers, has contributed to establishing the first-ever Intergroup on Education and Skills in the European Parliament, titled “Future of Education and Skills for a Competitive Europe.” An Intergroup is a forum for informal exchanges between Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) from different political groups. These groups also serve as a bridge between MEPs and civil society, which includes organisations, associations, and the general public. Key topics for the Intergroup include: prioritising education, addressing skills shortages and supporting Europe’s green and digital transition to ultimately strengthen European competitiveness. As a member of the Shuman Associate Skills Coalition, we look forward to exchange and work with stakeholders on these topics to continue to ensure the European cosmetics industry remains innovative, sustainable and competitive.

We are pleased to announce that our Erasmus+ KA210 project called Sustain Our Future Together- SOFT, has been awarded a grant by the Dutch National Agency. The project will be carried out under the coordination of the European School of Bergen, together with our partners from Slovenia, Bulgaria and Turkey. Our project proposal has the following objectives: *Raising awareness of teachers/students by increasing their knowledge and awareness on environmental sustainability, *Increasing the digital and sustainability literacy of teachers through teacher trainings for the sustainable development of schools, *Examining and exchanging good practices in Europe and in our schools to become 'Sustainable Schools' and transferring good practices to our schools, *Under the themes of ‘My Digital Garden and Back to Nature, learning strategies and methodologies, applying them in our schools and integrating them into our curricula.
