We are thrilled to present the EmpowerPEx Project, funded by the #EPUAP Starting Grant, dedicated to transforming pressure ulcer #prevention through patient and caregiver involvement. This groundbreaking initiative, led by Dr. Hannah Wilson of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), aims to bring patients and caregivers to the forefront of research decision-making, ensuring their voices are heard and valued. 🔎 How it is done and why does this matter? EmpowerPEx establishes a Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) advisory panel to identify key research priorities in pressure ulcer prevention by partnering with individuals with lived experience. Pressure ulcer prevention isn’t just a medical challenge—it’s a personal one. By prioritizing the voices of those most impacted, this project aims to align research with real-world needs, enhance #healthcare delivery, and foster a collaborative approach to #patient care. We are proud to support this innovative approach that advocates patient expertise and redefines how we approach pressure ulcer prevention research. Let's stride towards a more patient-centered #healthcare future! 🚀 #EmpowerPEx #PressureUlcers #StopThePressure #PressureUlcerPrevention

Earlier today, I had the fantastic opportunity to present at Safer Care Victoria’s Learning Lab session alongside Alexandra Kemble (middle of photo) ,Acting Short Stay/DOSA NUM, and Jesusette Mabutin (right in photo) , Surgical Discharge Coordinator. We shared our journey implementing Criteria Led Discharge (CLD) at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre aiming to transform patient discharge processes. We are still in the early stages of our implementation, continually learning and adapting to ensure the best outcomes for our patients and staff. We are hoping that CLD will: • Improve patient experience by providing information on the milestones they need to achieve before discharge, which can help reduce anxiety and increase satisfaction with their care. • Improve staff experience through streamlined workflows, reduced conflicts, and increased job satisfaction. • Contribute to wider Healthcare System benefits from increased bed availability, cost efficiencies, improved patient flow, and reduced readmissions. What are your views on implementing Criteria Led Discharge in healthcare settings? Have you seen positive outcomes in your practice? #HealthcareInnovation #HealthcareReform #PatientCare #SaferCareVictoria #PeterMac #CriteriaLedDischarge #SaferCareVic

NEVENT: Making Safer patient care the new standard of care. Presenting at LSI EUROPE 2024 Tuesday 17 Sep 2024, 1015 am track 2 in Joao 2. This year 1540 patients in the US will suffer from a medical error that carries a 5.5% mortality and 10% serious morbidity rate. This error costs the healthcare system $830 million per year and was declared a Joint Commission never event in 2018. This serious medical error is a retained guidewire and it can now be prevented. With a clear manufacturing, regulatory, and market ($1.28 billion) capture pathway, along with an additional $730 million in revenue and a healthcare system savings of $100 million per year, NEVENT’s Safety Sheath will make retained guidewires one less risk our patients take when receiving medical care. Looking forward to meeting and collaborating with others who share our vision of safer care and a higher standard of care for our patients. @LSI #LSI Bullpen Akshara Pant Amy Duncan Aarathi Cholkeri-Singh, M.D., FACOG Michelle Fox Matt Tomkin Liam Kelly Rumneet Singh Kharbanda Ryan Mahon Diana Valencia Sunish Nair Faouzi Kallel Noam Mizrahi Richard Bengel, DMSc, PA-C, PHPE Eric Oberwise Todd Brinton, MD Virginia Giddings Vivian Khalil Nick Talbot Silverman Ron Tom Polen Nir Herlinger Joseph (Joe) Smith, MD, PhD Carlos Ortega John A Barrett Dave McKernan Rex Eaton Aaron Johnson Anne Carter apologies to anyone I failed to tag.

Patient need is a compass, and it is incumbent upon us to follow where it leads. For Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, it led us to develop a first-of-its-kind Guide to Expanded Access back in 2021. Now, three years later, and after positive feedback from patients and advocates alike, I’m proud to announce the release of a new 2024 edition, available here: http://bit.ly/3zBVnXs A resource requested by and co-created with patients, this guide provides patients, their caregivers, and their physicians much-needed clarity around expanded access – a potential pathway to investigational treatment outside of clinical trials for patients who are ineligible to participate in a trial, and whose disease has exhausted all available treatment options. With program requirements and details that vary country by country, expanded access can be challenging to understand and navigate. Now including 32 countries, the 2024 edition builds upon the original Guide and features updates directed by patient feedback and input. From the easy-to-navigate table of contents at the beginning to the glossary of key terms at the end, the patient voice is reflected across each page of the guide. It’s only by listening to patients and working with them that we can deliver the resources and information they need – something I learned firsthand as a nurse and continue to believe to this day. Being at the bedside of patients and working with families early in my career, I saw the sheer power of information. Illness is never easy to cope with but having access to the right resources can make all the difference. I may have retired my scrubs, but these experiences stick with me to this day and inspire me to deliver resources that are not only created for patients but with them. Guided by our bioethical principles, the Guide to Expanded Access brings to life J&J’s commitment to patient health and safety while enhancing transparency and clarity. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this effort – my Patient Strategies & Solutions team, our colleagues at Bionical Emas, and, of course, the patients we are privileged to serve. #MyCompany#ExpandedAccess#EAEducation

Instituting Best Practices: Lessons from Canadian Joint Arthroplasty Pathway💡 Ever wonder what implementing best practices across the board for the most common clinical presentations could do for patient outcomes and satisfaction? The Canadian joint arthroplasty pathway offers a valuable model: clear, precise, and direct instructions for clinicians and patients alike. It emphasizes educating both the educator and the consumer, reducing uncertainty, and delivering full transparency in care. The goal is simple: execute the pathway consistently and focus clinical interventions on managing outliers. Yet, in MSK care, we still act as if universal best practices are just a concept rather than an achievable standard. It’s time to change that narrative. #MSK #PT #BestPractices #ClinicalPathways #MSKCare #HealthcareInnovation #PatientSatisfaction

Join the team at Essity for a 60-minute webinar with an overview of a new clinical study and an expert panel: Michelle Gibb, Elizabeth Webb and Beth Freeman - Gray, to discuss the treatment of Venous Leg Ulcers (VLU) and the impacts of the study. There will also be time for a Q&A at the end of the session. https://lnkd.in/giwUuEUt At Essity, we are dedicated to improving patient outcomes and helping clinicians by providing optimal healthcare solutions. Healing a VLU can be time consuming and costly for both the patient and the healthcare provider. We are excited to share and discuss the results uncovered in a NEW clinical paper on healing VLUs with adjustable compression wraps. A prospective cross-over study involving 50 patients with a VLU aimed to compare 4-layer bandages and adjustable velcro compression devices. Participants received JOBST FarrowWrap (Strong or Lite as clinically indicated) in the treatment of a VLU in the community setting where efficacy, cost effectiveness and user satisfaction were assessed.
