📣 Exciting news! I had the honor to contribute to a WHO Regional Office for Europe project report and scientific article that aim identifying key individual #digital, #social, #political, and #commercial determinants of health. In addition, the report investigates how these determinants are interlinked within a rapidly evolving #digitalecosystem. 🌐 The study - led by The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) - highlights that in the digital era, #healthoutcomes are no longer shaped by single, isolated factors. Instead, they emerge from complex interconnections among various determinants, necessitating cross-sectoral strategies and collaborative approaches. 🤝 Sciensano contributing to this study underscores the crucial role of #publichealth institutions in advancing our understanding of digital determinants of health and bringing #evidencebased perspectives that strengthen public health approaches. 📰 Read the news story: https://lnkd.in/eZx9dTbf 🔗Link to the full WHO report: https://lnkd.in/enegASaP 📖 Read the scientific publication here: https://lnkd.in/eT2PRWkt

✨ Brand new EASSH Position Paper 🗞️ on #SSH integration analysis: A research-on-research approach to EU framework programmes. EASSH presents 5 recommendations for policymakers. ❗ Monitoring integration is an important obligation for the framework programme to deliver truly interdisciplinary research programmes. In this paper, EASSH presents an analysis of SSH integration in #health, a key area where SSH and bioscience work closely together. The analysis uses quantitative and qualitative data already publicly available on European websites and focuses on the health challenge in Horizon 2020 (H2020) and the health cluster in Horizon Europe (HEu). While our results show that the overall integration is very low and has not improved between H2020 and HEu, our study reveals that we have options for better analysis and pathways to improve the design of the next framework programme (#FP10). 📄Read the full paper: https://lnkd.in/evCdA9VV 🙏 Please help us spread the word! What is quality in research in global health? Questioning the Quality of the Research we fund, and the research we carryout undoubtedly makes economic and ethical sense. Indeed, high quality research has a higher tendency to create impact. But what is high quality research? Who sets the standards? Methodological rigor, originality, high ethical standards, contextually adapted and led when possible, community engagement, potential to lead to policy change (co-creation), reproducibility, generalizability and scalability, transparency are some generally well-known considerations when we think of high-quality research. These concepts are relevant for all stakeholders in the global health research value chain (funders, academics, students, researchers, policy makers etc). The Research Quality Plus (RQ+) of the International Development Research Centre, IDRC, is one of the few structured and tested approaches that can guide research funders and researchers. 💡#ISPOREurope spotlight - Podium: Managing and reporting missing utility data for health technology assessment (HTA). UK HTA guidelines place emphasis on consideration of uncertainty and validity of results. One common source of uncertainty, particularly for utility data, is missing data. However, there are no definitive guidelines on how to manage missing utility data in UK HTA. YHEC's Neil Hansell will be delivering a podium presentation at ISPOR—The Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research Europe 2024, reporting the results of a study assessing multiple analytical methods for managing different types of missing utility data and providing recommended standards. For more information about YHEC's presentations at ISPOR Europe 2024, see our bespoke website: https://lnkd.in/ekSR8XBt #ISPOREurope

Our study found EWS compliance can be achieved by fostering acceptance and support, good communication, clear instruction and interdisciplinary collaboration. Further research is recommended to use the emerging framework as a basis for developing a sociocultural model of EWS compliance. Last night, I had the opportunity to discuss about 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 with a group of young scientists. It's astonishing how many people are still unaware of what these guidelines are and their purpose. Reporting guidelines are standardized frameworks designed to ensure clear, accurate, and transparent reporting of #research. They outline the essential information that should be included in scientific #publications to enhance #reproducibility, improve study quality, and facilitate critical appraisal by readers and reviewers. These #guidelines help prevent selective reporting and ensure consistency across studies, making it easier to interpret and compare research findings. At the Equator Network website (https://lnkd.in/d_j_iTNr) you may find an up-to-date collection of guidelines and policy documents related to health research reporting. How can readers fully grasp the value of your research if your study lacks clear, detailed reporting on what was actually done?
