For many, Halloween isn’t about treats and sweets – instead it brings feelings of unease, pressure to become involved and a general sense of feeling uncomfortable and/or unsafe. Here are a few tips to help support your child through the day: It’s ok if they don’t want to take part in Halloween activities – the first step is to ask them if they want to take part, and then work out what FUN looks like to them if they do. If they are worried about strangers coming to the door – opt out of trick or treating by closing the curtains and keeping the lights low. Any sweets you want to share can be put in a bowl outside so they can be enjoyed without you being disturbed. Don’t place any expectations on your child to join in with anything they don’t want to – and don’t worry about what anyone else might think about this either!

Halloween is almost here! Let’s make sure kids have a safe and fun time. 👫 Group Trick-or-Treating The more, the merrier, so make plans for kids to go with friends and adults this year. There’s safety in numbers, plus, it’s a great way for you to swap stories about how much fun trick-or-treating was “back in your day.” 😉 🎃 Teach “No” to Unsafe Treats We all love a good homemade treat, but explain to kids that they should only accept them from people you all know well. 🚪 Don’t Enter Homes or Cars Remind kids not to enter anyone’s house, even if they’re invited inside—no matter how nice someone seems. This goes for trunk-or-treating, too. 🌟 Stay on Well-Lit Streets Plan a familiar route in advance that has good lighting. It keeps everyone visible to drivers. And it’s so much easier to see all the creative costumes that way! A few quick reminders to little ones, and a quick candy check at the end, keeps their Halloween adventure as safe and fun as possible. And don’t forget, with recordable e-books and e-cards from Make Momentos, you can add a little extra treat to their Halloween—even if you’re not there in person.

🎃 Halloween Half-Term Madness! 👻 With half-term and Halloween crashing together this year, it’s the perfect chance for me to escape the office and dive into some spooky fun with my daughter. Honestly, I need a break from my to-do list (and emails that seem scarier than any ghost costume!). Here’s what we’ve got planned for the week: 🕸️ Trick or Treating – Because what’s Halloween without sugary bribes for our little monsters? We’ll be hitting up local spots to fill our candy stash (and I’ll try to sneak a few for myself… because I earned it, right?). 🍬 🌲 Scare Maze in Warsash – If you fancy screaming your head off, this maze is the place. I’m not sure who’s going to be more terrified—me or my daughter—but hey, at least it’s a break from deadlines! 🎭 (Check out Facebook for all the spine-chilling details.) 🏰 Spooky Fort Nelson – We’re taking a trip to Fort Nelson for a creepy history lesson. Ghosts + underground tunnels? Sounds like the perfect way to mix education and a few good frights! 🕯️ My daughter thinks she’ll be brave… but let’s see who’s running for the exit first! Honestly, as much as I get caught up in work, it’s moments like this that remind me to carve out (pun intended) time for family, laughter, and maybe a few screams of terror! 👻 What spooky plans do you have for half-term? 🎃 #HalloweenMadness #HalfTermFun #WorkingParent #TrickOrTreat #ScareMaze #FortNelson #SpookySeason
