Will we ever see this in North America? Europeans are generally less car-dependent than Americans or Canadians, but that doesn’t mean we can’t foster similar changes. Leaders should support initiatives like this to encourage a shift toward cleaner, alternative transportation options and reclaim more urban space for pedestrians. Today, Smart City Expo World Congress arrives in #Barcelona. Thanks to Metropolis, Asociación Mundial de las Grandes Metrópolis to give us the chance to explain how from Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB) we think of urbanization and digitalization as two interconnected shifts. Technology is not a neutral issue so we should ask first for whom we are building cities to. And what kind of cities we want for the future. One of my favourite things about VELUX is that we don't just say what needs to happen, we then also do it! Living Places is a great example of how we can build healthy, sustainable, resilient buildings at average cost and with off the shelf materials, today.
