🌾 Let's talk numbers: In 2022, households worldwide wasted over 1 billion meals every day, while a staggering 783 million people faced hunger and a third of humanity grappled with food insecurity. 🍽️ These statistics from the UN Environment Programme's report shows that the food chain system across the globe needs to be improved to ensure that lack and excess does not exist in the same planet. 💡 How do YOU come in? 🌍 World Food Day 2024: A Call to Action 🌱 Today, on #WorldFoodDay, we are reminded of the importance of food security and the pressing issue of global hunger. While food sustains life, millions of people around the world still face food insecurity, unsure of where their next meal will come from. The harsh reality is that hunger is not just about the availability of food, but also about access and equity. The gap between those who have enough to eat and those who don't is widening due to conflicts, climate change, and economic inequality. Food insecurity is one of the biggest challenges our world faces today, and it’s up to all of us to work towards a solution. We must strive for sustainable systems, fair food distribution, and innovative solutions to feed every person on this planet. 💡 Let’s pledge to: 1. Advocate for policies that support sustainable agriculture and food distribution. 2. Support local initiatives that address hunger and malnutrition. 3. Reduce food waste by being more mindful in our own consumption. It’s time to recognize that food is a fundamental right and take meaningful steps to ensure that no one goes to bed hungry. Together, we can make a difference. 🍽️💚 #WorldFoodDay2024 #ZeroHunger #FoodSecurity #EndHunger #SustainableAgriculture #FightForFoodSecurity

As the world continues to grapple with the food #crisis, we need to remember that this problem didn’t emerge overnight #Climate #change, among others, has been a major driver of these worsening trends. Ironically, although global food production has nearly quadrupled between 1961 to 2020 and increased by 50% between 2000 to 2020, more people than ever before are going hungry. Resolving the situation we face today requires a #sharper focus than ever on transforming our #food systems to make them more #sustainable while feeding a growing global population.

Today is International Food Loss and Waste Awareness Day. Five years ago, the United Nations established this day to recognize that people affected by hunger has been steadily increasing and that a significant amount of food that passes through the food chain is either lost or wasted. Custom Culinary takes an active role in combating food loss and waste by partnering with chefs and organizations to educate and encourage practices such as upcycling and transforming food waste such as brewer’s spent grains into nutritious and great-tasting ingredients. We also partner with Worldchefs and its Feed the Planet program, which is dedicated to relieving food poverty and delivering support for those in crisis. 🌍 World Food Day is a powerful reminder of the right to food and its importance for a better life and future. 🍽️ While farmers produce enough food to feed the global population, 733 million people still face hunger due to climate shocks, conflicts, economic crises, and inequality. The most vulnerable, including agricultural households, are hardest hit, exposing widening disparities across and within countries. Over 2.8 billion people cannot afford a healthy diet, and malnutrition—whether undernutrition, deficiencies, or obesity—affects every country. Too many are forced to rely on low-cost, unhealthy foods, and some lack access to fresh or varied options. To truly address hunger, we must transform agrifood systems. By making food systems more resilient, sustainable, and inclusive, we can reduce their environmental impact, tackle climate change, and ensure food security for all. 🌱🌍 Everyone deserves the right to nutritious, affordable, and safe food! Let's work together to build a healthier, more sustainable future for all. 🔗 Learn more at the FAO website: https://lnkd.in/gXd-FPH2 #WorldFoodDay #RightToFood #ZeroHunger #SustainableFoodSystems #ClimateAction

🌍 World Food Day - 16 Oct, 2024 🗣️ "Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future" While the world’s farmers produce enough food to feed the global population, 733 million people still face hunger due to conflicts, climate shocks, economic downturns, and inequality.
