We've come a long way, but there is still work to be done to improve women's health outcomes. A significant barrier is the lack of funding. Currently, only 4% of healthcare research spending goes towards conditions that primarily affect women. That's why we're excited about the Biden-Harris Administration's recent announcement: the "ARPA-H Sprint for Women's Health." This new initiative will invest $100 million to accelerate women's health research. With more funding like this, closing the gender health gap becomes more possible. 🌐 Calling for Action: Prioritizing Women's Health in Europe 🌐 In a world striving for equality, women's health remains a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of healthcare. Despite decades of progress, gender disparities persist, affecting everything from access to treatment to research funding. A recent " EU Manifesto for Women’s Health 2024" from the European Institute of Women’s Health " sheds light on these challenges and calls for a renewed focus on women's health across the European Union. From underrepresentation in clinical trials to higher rates of mental health disorders, the report highlights the multifaceted nature of the issue. But it's not just a matter of social justice – there are significant economic implications too. Closing the gender gap could lead to substantial GDP growth, while health inequalities result in economic losses. So, what can we do? It starts with acknowledging the problem and taking concrete steps to address it. From implementing gender-sensitive policies to investing in research on sex and gender differences, there are numerous ways we can make a difference. Collaboration is key! By working together – across sectors, borders, and disciplines – we can drive meaningful change and ensure that women's health is given the attention it deserves. Let's prioritize women's health, empower individuals, and create a future where everyone has access to quality healthcare, regardless of gender. Let us have this conversation and make a difference together. #WomensHealth #GenderEquality #EUHealthcare #FEMTECH

Today marks International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the achievements of women. The United Nations theme this year is ‘Invest in women: Accelerate progress’. Investing in women is a human rights issue. The women’s health gap currently equates to 75 million years of life lost due to poor health. This must change. To help address equitable healthcare, earlier this year we launched a cross-sector report with the World Economic Forum and the McKinsey Health Institute. It stated that addressing the women’s health gap could boost the global economy by $1 trillion annually. At Ferring, over 60% of our research investment focuses on the underserved and under-researched area of women’s reproductive medicine and maternal health. We are committed to driving progress in access to equitable, quality care and treatment to close the gap and help 3.9 billion women live healthier lives. #InternationalWomensDay #IWD #InvestInWomen #WomeninScience

Closing the women’s health gap is essential in the broader fight for gender equality. While women may live longer than men, they often spend more of those years in poor health, and that’s a clear sign something needs to change. The problem lies in the disparities in medical efficacy, data collection, and how care is delivered. We have to stop treating women’s health as just a smaller version of men’s health and recognise that it’s fundamentally different. Addressing this gap by focusing on specific diseases and conditions at a regional level could make a real impact, adding healthier years to women’s lives. #WomensHealth #HealthEquity #WomensHealthGap
