🌟 Honored to have been part of an insightful panel discussion today, sharing perspectives on how businesses can better support women, particularly through their motherhood journeys. ✨ It was truly inspiring to exchange ideas and experiences with fellow colleagues at Believeco:Partners, discussing the importance of creating inclusive workplace cultures where women feel valued and supported at every stage of their professional and personal lives. For those who are interested, here are some key takeaways from today's discussion: 1️⃣ Flexible policies and practices are essential to accommodate the diverse needs of women during pregnancy, maternity leave, and their return to the workforce. 2️⃣ Cultivating a supportive and empathetic workplace culture fosters a sense of belonging and ensures that women feel comfortable discussing their needs and challenges openly. 3️⃣ Education and awareness play a crucial role in breaking down stigmas and misconceptions surrounding women's health issues, enabling better support and understanding within the workplace. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to such an important conversation and look forward to continuing the dialogue on how we can collectively strive for greater equality and inclusivity in the workplace. Let's keep pushing for positive change! 💪 #InternationalWomensDay #WomenEmpowerment #Inclusion #DiversityAndInclusion
Today is a time we celebrate the incredible contributions of women in business, political life, culture, civil society, and in our lives. As a communications firm operating in an industry with such a high proportion of women employees, we have a special role and responsibility to promote, support, champion and advocate for women in leadership. As part of this commitment, our Believeco:Partners team hosted an International Women’s Day Panel, where a group of remarkable women shared their experiences, providing valuable insights into the unique challenges women face on their journey to career success. Among the panelists, we were honoured to have: Heidi Kim, Nassab El Eter, Alyssa Huggins, and Teyemtenot T., with Gail McInnes moderating. From their stories emerged key takeaways: - Supportive work environments are extremely important for career growth and empowerment. Fostering important conversations with managers and colleagues to practice empathy and support within the organization and a company to recognize its people uplifts us all. - Women face many challenges when juggling work and life, often playing as the caretaker at home and as a leader in their workplaces. It’s important to know that productivity does not determine our value, and our colleagues and workplaces need to show up and support women managing multiple responsibilities on their shoulders. - For young women starting their careers: Don’t be afraid to speak up and be open about your interests, honest thoughts and who you are. Trust yourself and have confidence in your work. It’s okay to make mistakes! - As we progress through our careers, taking leadership positions and growing within our roles, we must promote ourselves, ask for what we want, and be prepared to do the hard work to get what we want. Show up, bring your confidence and be outspoken. We bring a lot to the table, and we help make work better with our compassion, ambition and attention to detail.

"When you’ve worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity, you do not slam it shut behind you.” - Michelle Obama. This quote embodies women supporting women. It's about paving the way for others, especially the next generation. As the grandmother of my beautiful 14-month-old granddaughter, Maia, I am driven to create sustainable leadership and advocate for women, aiming to build a world where she can dream big and achieve anything. The Reality We Face 😢 Despite progress, women hold only 1 in 4 C-suite positions, with women of color at just 1 in 16. Representation and opportunity gaps are still significant. Why We Must Act Now Fact: Women are as ambitious as men. However, 70% of women feel their contributions go unrecognized, leading to disengagement and higher turnover rates. How We Can Empower Each Other 💥 Support Each Other: Share knowledge and resources. Mentorship, coaching, and sponsorship are crucial. Tip: Highlight and celebrate the achievements of women around you. 💥 Create Inclusive Environments: Listen and respond with empathy. Ensure every voice is heard and valued. Tip: Practice active listening and foster a culture of inclusion. 💥 Lead with Resilience: Show strength and compassion, especially in tough times. Tip: Share your stories of overcoming challenges to inspire others. 💥 Address the Broken Rung: Ensure women have equal opportunities to advance into leadership roles from the start of their careers. Tip: Promote women into management positions and provide necessary support and training. Our workplaces thrive when everyone has a chance to shine. Companies with greater gender diversity are 15% more likely to outperform their peers. This is about creating a successful and innovative future for all. As Simon Sinek says, "We’re all students of leadership." Embracing continuous learning and supporting one another makes us stronger together. Let’s uplift each other, open doors, and create opportunities for future leaders. Let’s build a legacy our children and grandchildren will be proud of. Next in our Women's History Month series, we are excited to spotlight Juli Arvis, our Director of Managed Services. What challenges or barriers have you faced as a woman in your career journey so far? How did you overcome them? I think the biggest challenge I’ve faced is one that still challenges many women, and that challenge is advancing in the work place. In my personal experience and in my observations in the media, other organizations, etc. I feel there is still a disparity in the number of men versus women in the upper echelons of corporate leadership. I’ve been in situations where I was held back from promotion in order to not advance beyond male peers, and those situations have been among the most frustrating in my career. Fortunately, I also think I’ve proved to myself that those challenges can be surmounted! What advice would you give to young women today looking to follow their dreams and ambitions or starting their careers? Keep an open mind to opportunities and say “yes” as much as you can when new challenges are presented. Some of the most impactful and educational experiences I’ve had came from pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone and trying a new position or a new task even when I felt unqualified. Who are the women who inspire you the most? There are so many; I’m fortunate to work with and lead teams with women spread across the world in various functions. Additionally, 2 women I would be remiss to not mention would be my mom and my best friend’s mom. My mom has led by example my whole life as a mother but also as someone who rejoined the workforce after raising kids. She’s taught me the value of hard work, accountability, and integrity in all I do. My best friend’s mom taught me that women really can do anything in the workplace. She was my example all my life of a world in which a woman can be a mother and the primary income for a household, and she rose to General Counsel in the automotive manufacturing world during a time when it was still very rare to have women executives, especially at large companies. What is favorite hobby outside of the workplace? Rock climbing! It’s a difficult hobby to have in flat Chicago, but climbing is how I met my husband, many of my friends, and is now something my son enjoys as well.

This International Women's Day, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to all the remarkable women in my circle, as well as those who extend it, and those who aspire to join it. I see you. Your tireless dedication and selflessness in supporting others do not go unnoticed. Amidst the endless responsibilities you gracefully manage, it's easy to lose sight of your own needs and passions. Yet, it's essential to carve out moments for self-renewal and rediscover what brings YOU joy. While the journey of being a woman often in service of others can feel isolating at times, remember that you are not alone. Together, we find strength in our independence as well as in the connections we share with like-minded women - our tribe. My original plan for today was to host a women’s leadership event. However, due to time constraints and my own juggling of many commitments, I found myself heading in a different direction. Rather than letting the day pass by without acknowledgment, I chose to take a simpler approach. I chose to acknowledge this day by encouraging women to reflect on what truly ignites our spirits. As we celebrate the strength, grace and unwavering spirit of women globally, I invite you to reflect on the following questions (feel free to share your key insights but don't feel obligated to): 1) What advice would you give to your younger self? 2) How do you define success and fulfillment? 3) What challenges have shaped who you are today? 4) Who inspires you, and why? 5) How do you prioritize self-care? 6) What does empowerment mean to you? 7) How can we support each other? 8) What accomplishments are you proud of? 9) How do you navigate societal expectations? 10) What are your dreams and aspirations? 11) Finally, what’s one thing you need to voice or express about yourself this International Women’s Day? I trust this post fosters a journey of self-discovery and peer-to-peer learning, as we share our knowledge and insights to empower and uplift one another. Together, may we inspire change for a brighter future. Happy International Women’s Day! Please consider sharing far and wide so women everywhere can thrive! Diversity at all level is the only way
Certified Executive and Organizational Coach. I work with Leaders to help them grow and have more Impact. Women Leaders Advocate. Fluent in French and English.
I spent most of my career being the only woman in the room. I often felt lonely and misunderstood. So, for a long time, I just tried to blend in. I didn't realize that because I was the only one, it would be much easier for me to stand out. It’s an opportunity to share your unique perspectives and make your impact more visible. Here are five ways to make the most of it: 1. Own Your Voice: Speak up confidently, knowing that your perspective is valuable and may offer insights others haven’t considered. 2. Leverage your Strengths: Identify the skills and strengths that make you unique, and let them shine in your work and interactions. 3. Build allies: Connect with others who value diversity and inclusion, creating a support network within and beyond the room. 4. Share your perspective: Don’t hesitate to suggest ideas that reflect diverse experiences—they add value to the team and broaden viewpoints. 5. Set a standard for other women to follow: Show that being different is a strength. Your example can encourage others to embrace their individuality and contribute more fully. Being the only one doesn’t mean blending in. It means you have a spotlight to use. Make your impact visible. Repost to help a woman leader stand out. Follow Fatou Seck Mathon for more.

What does it mean to be a successful woman? The answer is as diverse as women themselves. Success isn’t confined to one path, one role, or one set of rules. It’s about embracing what matters most to YOU. Yesterday, my colleagues and I had the incredible honor of receiving the 40 Under Forty award. This recognition celebrates individuals for their experience and innovation, vision, leadership, and community involvement. This award isn’t just a celebration of our achievements; it’s a reminder of the responsibility we have to inspire the next generation of young women to dream big, aim higher, and create their own definitions of success. 💕✨ A successful woman could be: 🥇A professional breaking barriers and leading in her field. 🥇A community advocate using her voice to inspire change. 🥇A mother nurturing the next generation with love and resilience. 🥇An entrepreneur building her dream from the ground up. 🥇Or all of these combined—because why limit ourselves? True success is personal fulfillment. It’s achieving goals that resonate with your values, overcoming challenges with resilience, and living life authentically. To all the women redefining success every day: Your journey is powerful. Keep challenging norms, pursuing your passions, and shaping a future where every woman can thrive on her own terms. #40UnderForty #WomenInLeadership #SuccessStories #Empowerment #Inspiration #WomenSupportingWomen

When women gather, wonderful and affirming conversations happen Early this year I had the privilege of working with the #brilliantwomen who joined me on the Brilliant Women Mastermind workshop in NYC. #BrilliantWomenMastermind was always meant to be a journey where women supported each other beyond the 2 days spent together. Their connections continued on as they moved back into the daily rhythms of their lives, the to-do lists, the work challenges, the family needs, and travel, but always reminded that we created a #sisterhood, on standby, ready to help each other keep moving forward with their goals. Creating safe and vulnerable spaces for women to share their stories and lift each other up leads to transformation - point blank, period! That's why I'm ready and so excited to do it again. Our next #BrilliantWomenMastermind is September 19-20th and I Cannot wait to meet and welcome another group of women into the room together in New York. It’s not too late to join us, we have a couple of spots left. We'll be keeping it tight - with no more than 12 women - so why not join us?! Shirley created and led a unique program for a group of accomplished, committed women to come together to form community and to explore, learn from her, and support each other in manifesting our highest selves and aspirations in our lives and in our work. Shirley’s deep study of family and social systems and decades of exemplary executive coaching experience shone through … we had the unusual opportunity to share about ourselves and our work with the group, and develop specific plans for moving our work and our lives forward.
