Low volunteering rates are not just bad news for the economy and for individuals but for charities across the country. It is small charities, which make up 80% of the charity sector and are more likely to be reliant on volunteers, which are struggling the most as a result of this decline in volunteering. And the volunteer recruitment challenge is worsening for small charities, not improving. Vital reading from Pro Bono Economics https://lnkd.in/e_8QFtuj

Can anyone help Louise?
I'm wondering if any of my charity/volunteering contacts know of anyone I could speak to about semi-regular family-friendly volunteering. I have done my own volunteering however recently I've had to press pause on due to personal circumstances. Next year I want to start volunteering again but this time, with 3, going on 4, year old in tow. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thank you

Why isn't volunteering more common in daily life? 🤔 Seamless.AI is organizing its fall philanthropy day next month, encouraging us to take a half day to volunteer for a charity in our area. I seized the opportunity and quickly signed up to dedicate a couple of hours of my time. Volunteering is something I value and would readily do given the chance. In school, volunteering was a regular part of our routine. However, as adults, this practice often fades away without external encouragement. While my mother has always been actively involved in charity work, I've noticed that many people only engage when prompted or when they have a personal connection. Let's work towards making volunteering and donating a common practice. It should be something we do regularly, perhaps on a monthly basis. There are countless ways to contribute - from organizing toy drives to baking for charity organizations or simply donating items to those in need. Let's make giving back a part of our routine and help create a more caring and supportive community. 🌟 #Volunteering #Philanthropy #GiveBack #CommunitySupport

Volunteering makes the world a nicer place... It's volunteering week and as ever, the team are helping to find local people opportunities both within our projects and locally with trusted organisations. - Volunteering is a great stepping stone into or back into employment. Work experience, upskilling and building back after a break. - Volunteering is good for health & wellbeing. Physically & mentally a great way to stay in shape. A good way to meet and interact with others. Grow from the sense of giving. Restore your faith in others. - Volunteering helps support the systems that support vunerable people. Charities need volunteers to do the work that they do to underpin public services. Not everything can be a paid job or service...sometimes we just need to help others, because it is the right thing to do. We also hope that in our times of need, there will be volunteers to support us too. If you already volunteer or are an organisation / group that facilitates volunteering - well done and thank you! #charity #Solihull #volunteersweek #community #health

Did you know that Hays is getting Neighbourly again for the second year running? Check out the full post below for all the details on this important initiative!
🤝 We’re delighted to announce that Hays is working with Neighbourly for the second year in a row to donate our time to hundreds of good causes. 🌍 For many years, Hays’ employees have been working hard and raising funds to help charities and support people in the communities in which we operate. 🤗 In 2023, when we first teamed up with Neighbourly, we pledged to give 10,000 hours’ worth of volunteering to the groups they work with. After making an impact - we’ve now been inspired to give back even more and get Neighbourly again in 2024. This year, we’re splitting our work into two phases, meaning we can offer even more to those who really need it. Let’s dive in! 🔹 Skills-based volunteering From April onwards, 500 of our staff will be offering their time to communities that could benefit from specific skills-based learning, with a focus on nurturing employability. Whether it’s skills within HR, social media, technology or legal – to name just a few – our enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers are passionate about sharing their specific knowledge with those who need it most. 🔹 Hays Gets Neighbourly Throughout the month of May, 2,000 of our workforce will be volunteering with a huge variety of organisations and charitable groups that need our assistance, from sorting through donations at food banks and lending a hand to mental-health helpline services to planting trees in polluted areas. Last year, we supported 282 good causes in 27 postcode locations, and we can’t wait to make an even bigger impact in 2024. 💙 We’re committed to doing the right thing and we’re passionate about empowering our workforce to give back. Visit www.neighbourly.com for more information, and watch this space to see how we get on! #charity #givingback #helpingforyourtomorrow
